Class of 2022 RD Discussion Thread

Yale has a bee keeper also. One of the teachers at my son’s school is a bee keeper. I told him he should start a club to work with the bees…who knows might help a student get into an Ivy. The college counselor said last year some girl won a record for jump roping and was admitted into Wash U. Basically along with good stats you need some random talent that sets you apart from anyone else.

My son couldn’t apply ED due to needing a financial package, which I understand Wash U is aware of. Also, he really wasn’t sure of where he wanted to go.

@wendyez the right school will accept you.

@s how about working on her hula hoop skills I don’t see that on the list. A past student admitted into Wash U won some jump roping contest or beat a record.

We live in STL. They could have saved money on an air fare by not wait listing my son.

Is is just me or is anyone else confused why we got a sticker book and colored pencils in the mail? I’m an 18 year old guy…

D had 5 more schools to hear from so hopefully thing will go her way. In any event it is inspiring to see the intelligence, maturity and respect with which the students from around the country and world treat one another here. Best of luck to all.

D is waiting to hear from 8 more, she was rejected by Wharton but accepted by Olin is a huge gift from God. WashU is her top choice now but still neverous about hearing from Georgetown since she had a summer camp there before and she LOVED the campus!

@wingjuer, congrats on Olin. Hey, if your D doesn’t make it into GU, she won’t have to deal with rats in her dorm AND she will have a tempur-pedic mattress in St. Louis!

Not too upset because I didn’t particularly want to go to Wash U. I only applied because my parents asked me to and because it was a simple application- I never visited or managed to show interest either. I’m hoping whatever spot I would’ve gotten went to someone who genuinely loves the school and will thrive there. I’m more afraid of how this fares for the other decisions I will receive in the next 2 weeks, but I guess that’s life for all of us in this vicious college cycle.

ihopeigetin1234 totally agree with you - the sticker book and crayons are a complete fail. And actually a turn off.

got it yesterday and was like, what? Still grateful to be accepted into Wash U. Free plane trip in April,… awesome! makes up for colored pencils.

Rub WashU, you rejected my son for good, he got into Northwestern.

Rejected
Major: English
ACT: 34: 36R, 35E, 32M, 32S
GPA: 4.2, 3.9 UW

Thanks. That’s my belief as well. My son was accepted into WashU’s BME program along with a Likely Letter from Cornell and waitlisted at Georgia Tech. His long term plan is to attend Medical school so not sure if need to be at the top engineering program.

Hey, when I first checked the WashU pathway it was offering me a flight and an overnight stay, but now when I check back it only is offering me the bear day visit. I didn’t realize there was a deadline besides the one listed on the portal?? Will I not get a flight or an overnight stay now?

@bken2018 Are you talking about the Olin Spotlight event? If you were accepted into Olin, the deadline for the first Olin Spotlight (April 8-9) was March 21. However, I think you should still be able to register for the second Olin Spotlight (April 18-19).

My son was accepted last week, but won’t be going because (among other reasons) there was no merit $. However, he didn’t submit the supplements, so that was not a surprise. Top 5%, 3.9 UW, 4.5 W, 1590, NMC, decent ECs.

This is really fascinating statistics for Northwestern
https://dailynorthwestern.com/2018/03/24/campus/northwestern-acceptance-rate-falls-to-8-4-percent/

It confirms that these year ~5-10% increase in application pool had resulted in ~1-3% dent in acceptance rate compare to last few years.

Anyone from SoCal admitted to WashU?
