Class REGISTRATION advice??

When is it best to take labs and discussion sessions for chemistry 101? lectures are on MWF should i take them on T and TH or on the same days as the lecture??

Also the same for biology 101 when is it a good time to take discussion sessions? lectures are on MWF

For chem, I’ll have mine on Tuesday, with classes on MWF. It makes sense to me, since the labs are so long that I’ll want a break from the class. That’s my reasoning, at least, and most of the people at my school agree. I’m curious what other people say, though.

Doesn’t really matter. If you’d prefer to have a break (ie, you don’t want to have 4 hours of chemistry in one day) then pick a T/Th lab. It really depends on how the rest of your schedule looks and how busy your other days are.

I prefer labs later in the week because then people I knew already had theirs and they could help me with questions. Also it seemed like I could procrastinate more.

I also like labs in the afternoon and I don’t like the same day of the lecture thats just too much of the same subject for me in one day.

Thats just me though… =-)

I’m taking two natural science courses this semesters which entail an accompanying lab for each. I have them on a Wednesday right after one another. One course is on T Th and the other on M W.

So from 4 - 730 PM I got just those labs.

I’m going to have my Bio lecture on mondays and wednesdays

and the lab on wed… so idk yet how its going to be since its going to be my first semester

I took anatomy over the summer and the class was 4 hours lecture/lab one right after the other and I wanted to kill myself. Too much of the same thing for too long.

How long are the labs? I’d personally schedule discussion sections on the same day as the lecture. If it’s before the lecture, then going over problems and topics will prepare you for lecture (or at least put you in the right mindset), and if after, then you can ask questions about material that come up in lecture.

Lab and lecture on the same day can be overwhelming. While you’re going to have to devote x number of hours to lab every week regardless of when you choose to take it, I have found in my personal experience that labs later in the week are less stressful. Since they take up such a large chunk of time, they may interfere with your commitment to other classes and cause you to fall behind in other classes. It’s easier to make up for time “lost” to labs when you have them on Fridays because you can easily use the weekend to catch up. When you get backed up during the middle of the week, things tend to snowball.

I prefer blocks of 2-3 classes and then a lab a few hours after or on a day with less class.
