Hi everyone.. My orientation is 102 (16th-18th) but I've been looking over some of the classes that I may want to take, and I had a few questions.

Has anyone here taken History of China? I know there's two periods - To 1000 and from 100 to 1950. Which one do you think is more interesting? I really like Asian histories so I was wondering if I were only to take one of those, which would be better?

Another class that I'm interested in is Classical Mythology. Any comments on this one? I dont think its offered fall quarter but I would like to take it whenever it is offered. Thanks =)

how's my fall schedule for a freshman? how are my teachers? advice?:
english comp 3: westbay
math 3A: kucherenko
LA the cluster: KATZ, J. / ZASLOFF, J. / REIFF, J.L. / KAFKA, L.

dawritingmachine: it is light/typical. from what i hear about math 3a and from what i can see from the textbook, it is like precalculus level. english comp is allegedly a grade booster. you might have to worry about teh cluster cause all my friends tell me it is not worth the time unless you actually enjoy the subject.

oh, i hope i won't get too bored. i know up to calc bc in high school. took the ap test and got a 3, so here i am taking math 3A :( i wish i can challenge myself more.

I would definitely not recommend history 1c. I took it as an incoming freshman last year and it was absolutely horrible, probably because it I took it with urdank. Check who the teacher is before you sign up, because I signed up thinking it would be an easy history class, but I screwed up on the tests cause they were all essays and the professor didn't teach us a thing.

just a quick question about englishcomp3 -
on every thread, people recommend we take englishcomp3, but my AP scores are sufficient AND i've taken the equivalent at a community college. what do i take? english4W? do i just not take any english classes at all?

if you are engineering major then you are done with english, if you are in L&S you might have to take other english classes... just plan your schedule with other GEs until you get more info then take it during winter or spring?

I don't think it's THAT early. Of course, you should definitely look around to see if you can find them cheaper somewhere else. AND, even if you did order them right now, if I remember correctly, the bookstore doesn't ship them until Late August/Early September anyway.

i signed up for chem 20a, math 32a, history 1c.
i logged into the ucla bookstore, and it only shows a book for math. are the chem 20a and history 1c book not decided upon yet?
