Clemson Class of 2025 Admissions

Seriously?! That surprises me! What happens when you go test-optional and your high school does not rank?! They judge on grades only? That seems rather myopic.

Do they even look at letters of recommendation? I had two submitted there.

I would find it incredibly hard to believe that they’re not considering the entire application this year. Lots of kids had to go test optional so Clemson AOs would need more to help them make their decision. Grades cannot possibly be enough. Good luck!!

When my daughter attended a virtual admissions tour, they said they would look at everything for TO applicants. They encouraged TO applicants to submit any and every bit of supplemental information they had - resumes, lor, even video montages. Anything that could give admissions a deeper understanding of the applicant.

So strange, just looked at my DD portal and it shows something was uploaded yesterday (her official transcript) and yet she did that back in October (and it shows October as well)

Did she ever get an email before saying that had received her application?

Oh yes back when she applied in October. Her portal has said “Your application is complete. You can expect a decision by mid-February.” for months now.

Did her school just finish semester one grades? I wonder if they sent out the mid year report and that is what was downloaded. It is also possible that they are reviewing the application now and needed to download it again. That certainly is bizarre though.

Mid year officially ends today so their grades aren’t official until today I believe. No idea…just found it odd that it shows that!

It also says she had 5 letters of Rec. and I believe she only submitted 3.

That happened to my D a few months ago. I assumed her guidance office accidentally sent it again when she requested a transcript for another college since the dates matched.

In a virtual session that I had attended, the admissions officer said that they would be looking at extra information (resume, etc) given by the student because there was no test score to go off of. (FOR TO APPLICANTS)… I am not sure about applicants who DID submit a score.

Hi! Is Clemson superscoring the act this year? and does that impact your admissions at all if your superscore act is higher than your composite?

My guess is the drip of admissions is probably done until the official Feb date???

I believe they are.

Weird though to not hardly see any!

I was thinking the same thing, since it doesn’t seem like there have really been any acceptances this week. I am hoping they hear by next weekend!

Edited to refer to answer below; it looks like one section of their website was updated to reflect ACT superscore. The main application section still states “best composite,” but the expanded question section below it states “superscore.”

Clemson University super-scores both the SAT and the ACT. For the SAT, this means that the overall total SAT score will then be derived by taking the highest of the evidence-based reading and writing/math scores.

According to The ACT, superscoring at Clemson means that we “consider a student’s highest ACT section (or subtest) scores regardless of test date. The super composite ACT score is calculated as the average of the best ACT English, Reading, Math, and Science subject scores and is used as one of multiple factors in admission and financial aid.” Beginning in September 2020, students who want test scores used are encouraged to send Clemson their ACT test scores utilizing the Superscore reporting option.

Interesting, I was going off Clemson’s website. Maybe they need to update it, if it changed?
