It’s making us still hopeful, even though we know it shouldn’t!
I think some of the folks who got Engineering Honors already still have their status saying it is under review. So something broken on that for sure.
Wonder if they ever extend more offers after the May 1st deadline to accept admissions? I’m sure they don’t. We were just really hoping for the opportunity for honors housing.
Don’t know whether Engineering Honors are given out in waves. The sample set of people reported here so far are reporting high scholarship money in UT standards. I have seen in past postings in other threads that amounts ranging from $1000 to $12000. But here all the reported amounts was $10000. May be Honors with lower money will be issued in days to come.
@midclassdad Wrong! Mine was $2,500 a year. Very jealous about everyone getting $10,000 Engineering Honors and Presidential Achievement scholarships… kinda need the money.
It was $2500 a year. Unbelievable with the kind of stats you had. That means, they have released all the strata of scholarschips for Engineering Honors. We can give max give up to this weekend to see whether snail mail comes bit late for out of state and then conclude it. Good that you clarified.
@midclassdad If it is at all need-based, I’m concerned that they screwed up reading my scholarship application and assumed my father’s income mattered (it doesn’t; he’s non-custodial and not paying.) If that is the case, then I’m looking forward to being disappointed. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to have the qualifications for the EH scholarship anywhere.
I am finding this system amusing at times. If my father is rich and he can decide not to pay me, right? Does he has any binding to pay? While there is no binding, his earning is comfortably considered in deciding need based.
If a father making money, who do not want to pay for his kid’s school, the kid for no mistake of his/her getting penalized. How they let this happen?
Either they make it as obligation to dad to make minimum contribution or do not estimate need based on that. Any other thing will penalize the kid.
@midclassdad I’ll just hope for the best. I’m going to look into it with the OSFS, and hopefully see some further scholarships going into March.
@kiriii I just got my ehp decision and scholarship amount yesterday through snail mail although it is marked as February 27th. I do not believe it was purely merit based because I do not qualify for any financial aid at all and received a 25k scholarship per year for four years. Needless to say, I was ecstatic from this news. Hope this sheds a little light on the decision making process .
Do believe*
Did your Mystatus got updated to refect your Honors program yet?
@midclassdad It did as of about two or three days ago. I think they may still be making decisions - I’m not sure if they’re going to keep the status in review for all the other candidates to see who rejects admission into the honor program or not. Keep hopeful!
If somebody reports any rejection in Engineering Honors, may be that will be an indication that my son’s Honor’s app is still under genuine consideration. But we will always keep the hope until they say “NO” black and white.
My dads friend works with the MSBA program at McCombs and put me in touch with the Engineering Honors Chairman. There are more waves of invites going out. In fact, a batch was sent out yesterday. Look in your mail and look on your MyStatus for the decisions. All decisions will be made by Friday, March 13th. Looks like at least one more wave, or two, to go out before they are done. Good luck to all!
@uptonoliver I was just about to give up LOL. Thanks for the insight, m8. Also congrats again to everyone who got in, and good luck to everyone waiting
@imthereal Yes I know it was killing me I was waiting for a rejection! Lol.
@uptonoliver Someone else understands my pain! I’m currently trying to remember what the prompt for the EHP essay was so I can remember if what I wrote was decent LOL. Good luck, dude!!
Maybe they’re sending them on a rolling basis, depending on when you submitted your EHP app. I submitted mine on November 30th, so maybe that’s why I haven’t gotten any updates yet.
My daughter’s letter very clearly asked her to let them know ASAP if she is not going to accept the scholarship so that they can give it to someone else. It is $25K/yr x4, merit based, OOS. We won’t know the answer until she hears back from some other schools. So, I would guess they have a sizable list of kids that are in line for the scholarship $$$ for situations just like this. Don’t give up hope.
