College acceptances

artsymom, Sorry to hear about the rejection. When did your D audition for UARTS? We are still waiting for news.

Congrats to your friend for getting into CM! How did she find the music from Brooklyn? Is it out already? (My d loves that show and loves to sing Once Upon A Time!) Is this the same Chloe that goes to Marymount? Maybe she's transferring, if it's the one we know!

Mike,
Did your friend Chloe, who got accepted to CMU, do The Broadway Theater Project last summer? My S was there too and I heard a girl from NYC area named Chloe, sing a song from Brooklyn. She was absolutely amazing!!!!!!!! Do you know if Chloe auditioned for U of M and if so, has she heard?

rossji,
A bunch of kids who attended The Broadway Theater Project last year worked on music from "Brooklyn" with Dave Clemmons. Unfortunately my S wasn't one of them so I don't have access to the music. Maybe there are others out there who were at BTP last year and may be willing to help you out with music.

Accepted to Univeristy of the Arts for musical theatre. woo hoo!

So... UArts, Baldwin Wallace, and Point Park.... 6 more to hear from!

ummm....My fabulous friend chloe is the one from BTP. She actually sang once upon a time for her auditions.....She is not allowed to give out the music because she got it from Jeff Calhoon, who is the director for Brooklyn. She was called in to audiiton for the show, and was called back, her age is the only thing keepink her back. sHe only audiitoned for CMU and CCM, because she was too lazy to write all hte mich essay(which is the dumbest thing ive ever hear) but truthfully thisd girl doesnt need a training program, because shes already gotten one broadway show (MAmma Mia) wqhich she didnt take...anyway...ill stop gloating i feel like she is my child..i love her...she will probably end up being a famous recording artist, so look for her cd with RCA out late this summer. Good luck...Let me know when any of you hear from Mich-i want to lknow who my classmates r!?

Broadway32nd, congratulations on UArts! My D auditioned the same day as you and said you were wonderful. (Jacisme, it was Sat. 2/5 -- a quick turnaround.) It didn't work out for her at UArts, but she brushed it off quite quickly. It'll work out at the place where it's meant to work out.

Mike
Thanks for confirming that Chloe was at BTP. You're right . . . she is awesome! Can't wait to hear her CD. By the way, a friend of my S was talking today about this tall red-headed kid he met at UMich auditions. Said this kid had an a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!! voice. I kind of think he was talking about you. He hasn't heard from UMich yet but when he called today they confirmed that they haven't made a definite decision about him yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him. Go Blue!

Anyone new hear from Michigan??
We are still waiting my son auditioned on 1/14
fingers are still crossed

I'm with ya Marbare. I can't believe we haven't heard anything yet. What is UP!?

Broadway32nd and Marbare

I auditioned on the 14th as well and I called the Michigan Admissions Office today to check on my app status and they told me that they were still waiting on my audition eval. So they haven't even made a decision about me yet! I guess it's better than a rejection . . .

To all who auditioned at UMICH: Last year my D auditioned in late January for MT and sat at home waiting and waiting and waiting for their decision. The long wait paid off, for she was not only accepted, she got a scholarship! So, sit tight. Good things are to come!

Oh my, well now I'm reeeallly nervous!!! I called, they said a decision WAS made a few days ago and I should be hearing soon. Too bad I'm leaving for Boston right now and won't be back until sunday. I dunno how I feel about my dad or sister opening my mail. :-\ This totally sucks. Collegebound, I think at this point I'd rather hear that a decision hasn't been made. argh.

My heartfelt wishes to all of you who are now waiting to hear "the word" on your auditions/applications. Having gone through this I know the next few weeks will be stressful. For you as well as your parent(s). Things have a way of working out, as I am sure you know if you have taken the time to read through the threads from the last two years. Keep busy and the next few weeks will fly by. I wish I could hug you all!

You know that there are really only 6 degrees when you just discover this site...and then, know someone randomly whos posted! What an accomplishment! You will love this school! Toms mom

Still Waiting On Michigan..
Anyone Else Hear Yet?

Heard today from Michigan after 5 weeks. Unfortunately it's a "no". Good luck to everyone who is still waiting to hear!! :)

Hey...listen, this hole college this is rediculous...they keep u waiting till the last minute, then let you down. Nic, i am sure u are EXTREMELY TALENTENTED!!!! AND DESERVE TO GET IN EVERYWHERE....but sometimes its not all about talent, they have wierd ways of picking classes (for instance my friend is now a frehsman mt at cmu, and got rejected from Ithica musical theater-now wuts up with that!!!???? Keep in touch with me, id love to find out where ur going, and i hope that you have a wo9nderful experience. Also the good thing is u can re-audition for programs....my friend at boco is doing just that. I am sure you will make it asl ong as you set ur mind to it, and work ur butt off. It's not so much where u go anymore-but how fabulous u r when u get bakc to nyc!!!!! keep that in mind....ultimately when they cast a show,,they go by who deserves the part...not who went to which school thats absurd!!!!! good luck.say hi to ur mom for me!!!
mike

-nic

Just got back from Buffalo and Fredonia yesterday. In case anyone doesn't know this, Buffalo told us they are looking for 8 total for this year. So I guess that means 4 of each? Anyway, director of program talked to everyone, and she was very nice and informative. She left to begin auditioning ppl and the a financial aid/admissions person stayed for more questions but ended up contradicting much of what the department head said. Strange. Song and monologue part went well, she sang two complete songs and did both monologues. Auditioners commented on her nice choices. (Had never heard of them) The current students watched the dance audition. Some of the girls watching were catty and were commenting and whispering when certain girls would get to the front. My D said she felt bad for some of the girls and felt as though she was back in high school. She said the guys seemed very nice to all the auditionees, just stayed quiet with smiles and encouraging looks. She did not like the campus at all. Very spread out, square buildings and no trees. Kinda felt like we were in a big field with some buildings. The center where she auditioned is big and new and a nice facility, but it was so cold and airy in the atrium that I cant imagine this being a nice place to gather in the winter. Most ppl had their coats on until they could eat their food at the tables, then quickly left to go to the warmth of the downstairs.
Fredonia was a lot better as far as faculty and students. Just as I've heard, they were all very nice and informative, and the drama/MT students were on hand for unlimited private tours and info sessions. The auditions were well run and on time, and the students seemed to all say the only weakness of the program is the facility, sometimes dark in that theatre building, but nothing major. The director said that he knows that Fredonia is an up and coming program based on the number and levels of talent of the ppl they are seeing. He said they make no decisions until they see everyone. They will see about 150 and make offers to around 35? in hopes of around 20-25 of those accepting. This makes it seem like somewhat of a safety, but the sounds coming from those rooms were no less than I've heard from the CCM and other auditions, so now Im not sure what I think. If anyone has any questions feel free to e-mail me and I'll answer. Just think, only about another month of this wondering!
