EVERYBODY DESERVES to control their own destiny. That is just fair. A system where some team wins every single game and can’t get to a BCS bowl (let alone the national championship game) is wrong. This is sport where skills, talents and many other factors involve. It’s not a beauty contest where you vote for the best looking contestants.

Oregon wasn’t expected to win the game. In fact, Boise ranked much higher than Oregon preseason (somewhere around #6, 7). Boise also beats Oregon last year at Oregon. They were clearly the favorite. If Oregon won, it would have been an upset.

Oregon and Boise State were 14 and 16 in the preseason, flipped between the two polls. Boise State opened as a 5.5 point favorite, closed as a 3 point favorite.

The Bleacher Report is a joke. I’m sure there are real stories about that issue.

Sure, Boise State was ranked higher and favored. But the same scenario would have likely played out if Oregon won - Oregon gets a slight increase in ranking, Boise State drops out of the polls. Even if Boise went 11-1 after losing to Oregon, people would just make excuses that beating Boise wasn’t much of an achievement in the first place.

Not even scheduling Boise to come and play (without a return trip) is pretty sad. It says a lot about how teams don’t want to play Boise at all.

But also, trying to fill a 2011 spot at this time is hard. Most top-tier programs are already booked through. For example, USC recently agreed with Texas A&M to do a home-and-home in 2015/2016 and is talking to Texas about doing a home-and-home in 2019/2020. The scheduling for 2011 happened years ago.

Also, the natural thing to do is schedule Pac-10 teams, but thanks to the round robin, Pac-10 teams only get 3 OOC slots (USC only gets 2 when you add in the annual Notre Dame series) so those fill even faster.

Anyways, I guess USC has been really overrated this season. They’re resting on their laurels from their success earlier in the decade, I guess.

Apparently losing the entire front 7 to the NFL from one of the best defenses in college football history, was just too much to reload.

USC’s front 7 has been absurdly overwhelmed the past few weeks…they played so well the first half of the season, but then they got banged up a bit and the complete lack of depth just sunk them

At least, a lot of freshmen on USC are getting a lot of playing time (including Barkley who did ok, 21/31, except for a very freshman 3 INT and 1 fumble)…good signs for the future.

Ohio State pulls out the win over the Hawkeyes with a Field Goal in OT! I saw most of the last quarter and it was a pretty good game. Needed OT to decide it…

Heels continue to roll, downing Miami 33-24 today. Miami’s leading receiver was Kendrick Burney, with 150 yards and two touchdowns. Problem is, Burney plays for UNC (Burney intercepted the ball three times during the game, returning one 77 yards for a touchdown and lateraling another for an 80-yard interception return for a touchdown).

not that you’ll be hearing this often from me, but notre dame just got robbed on a blatently terrible call…the replay crew overturned an obvious incomplete pass into a “fumble”…

clausen’s arm was moving forward…ball in his hand…ball flew forward at least 5 or 6 yards…original call was incomplete pass. I don’t see how you could possibly overturn it. There wasn’t anywhere close to indisputable evidence.

Apparently none of the replay booths have HD, also. I’m surprised that’s still an issue, given that basically everyone who went to USC in 2005 “saw vince young’s knee touch the ground” in HD (but was called up by the replay crew using only standard def)

On some level, I feel for the refs. It’s not easy to make calls quick and correct consistently, especially with the ncaa pushing you to make subjective excessive celebration calls.

But when it’s the replay crew, who gets to take their time & get the call right…either make the right call, or don’t get involved - no excuses
