I just heard about this, thought it was cool.

Jamaal Charles, former UT running back, who plays for the KC Chiefs decided to pass on the NFL single game rushing record. He was 37 yards short of Adrian Peterson’s record, but decided to be pulled from the game. “I didn’t want to do it like that,” said Charles, of trying to set the record late in a blowout win. “I’ll get it some other time.”

He’s awesome and the most underrated RB next to Jerome Harrison.

BTW, Jamaal Charles is faster than Chris Johnson.

Why does everyone claim TCU didn’t deserve to be in the title discussion when they played a close game against another undefeated team who had an equally strong defense. You’ll note TCU’s defense held BSU’s offense well below its season averages, but they did not have the fortuitous interception their counterparts did. Seriously, inform yourself a bit before gloating about the “demise” of teams that threaten your narrow viewpoint of how college football should be.

It’s because Boise State shouldn’t be in that conversation either (Unless Texas or Alabama gets blown out). Sure these teams did all they could by going undefeated, but that’s not the only factor.

After the game when giving out trophies, they interviewed the offensive MVP and asked him “Does Boise State deserve to be Number 1?” His answer, “Uhh, no. Maybe next year.” LOL

I would think, related a bit to the weird dichotomy of the Heisman as being an individual award (given to a QB/RB) but usually only one whose team is doing well enough independently to get them into the NC talk.

For the most part, I think defense wins championships. With few exceptions most of the BCS title game winners have had good, suffocating defenses. But having a Heisman QB/RB isn’t going to help your defense any.

Case in point, Matt Leinart (the only one of the 7 to win their BCS title game). He won the Heisman in 2004 and won the BCS title with the help of a graduating all-america defense. In 2005, although basically the entire offense returned, USC’s young inexperienced defense simply couldn’t contain Vince Young.

And, watching the game last night with two Texas highschool football coaches was interesting. Their comments: Both teams sucked it up - overthrown balls to wide open recievers, missed blocking assignments, arm tackles, etc.

Neither team should be in any discussion for (the supposed) number 1 status.

LOL! That’s not true!! There are some real beauties at A&M and Tech now that they can’t get into UT! (I’m running for cover - totally kidding aggs!!)

He wasn’t running things up, he was putting the game out of reach. 10 points is not a big lead. Grow up and stop pointing fingers because you lost.

lol 1 minute on the clock with a lead, TX with 1 TO.

I’m not pointing fingers at the fact that we lost, just angry about him running up the score. Kneel the ball with that lead, kinda disrespectful.
