<p>If a student accepts a scholarship from the college of engineering, and then changes majors sophomore year, will that student have to give back the money?</p>

<p>Now, if your child transfers, and they got the laptop, I’m assuming they’ll have to give that back, right? Or at least pay for it.</p>

<p>No…the laptop is yours…they don’t take it back, they don’t make you pay for it.</p>

<p>The laptop contract does say that you have to remain at the school for at least a year.</p>

<p>That may be so, I don’t remember that. I haven’t known anyone who left after one semester. I know of one student who left after a year because of serious illness, and he didn’t have to give it back. So, it’s possible there is a “one year” clause.</p>

<p>For the CoE scholarship, you keep until you officially change to a non-CoE major. I think for departmental scholarships, you have meet milestones like successfully passing such-and-such course by such-and-such semester.</p>

<p>I think uaprophet is right, mom. I remember hearing that somewhere. It might have been at the luncheon when they gave us the laptops.</p>

<p>Are the OOS College of Engineering scholarships automatic? Is there a further process to apply for those?</p>

<p>Barely missed the Presidential scholarship (one more try in November) but I see the College of Engineering pays the rest of tuition + $2500. I’m wondering if that’s guaranteed, or what it takes to get it.</p>

<p>Which test are you taking next month? The SAT?</p>

If you apply for admission and want to also apply for scholarships, you must complete the scholarship portion of the application to be considered for any UA undergraduate scholarship(s). By filing one application only, a student will be considered for all College of Engineering scholarships for which she or he is eligible. </p>

Scholarships 2010-2011</p>

<p>The following scholarships are in addition to the University-level scholarships offered. </p>

<p>In-State:</p>

<p>Students who have a 27-29 ACT or 1210-1320 SAT (math and verbal scores only) and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will receive $1,500 per year for four years.
Students who have a 30-36 ACT or 1330-1600 SAT (math and verbal scores only) and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will receive $2,500 per year for four years.</p>

<p>Out-of-State:</p>

<p>Students who have a 27-29 ACT or 1210-1320 SAT (math and verbal scores only) and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will receive $1,500 per year for four years.
Students who have a 30-31 ACT or 1330-1390 SAT (math and verbal scores only) and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will receive a tuition supplement to bring their University-level scholarship offer up to the value of tuition. In addition, they will receive $2,500 per year for four years.
Students who have a 32-36 ACT or 1400-1600 SAT (math and verbal scores only) and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will receive $2,500 per year for four years.
Students must maintain enrollment in a College of Engineering degree program to receive any College of Engineering scholarship. </p>

Students who have a 28-29 ACT or 1250-1320 SAT (critical reading and mathematics scores only) and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will receive $3,500 per year or $14,000 over four years.
Students who have a 30-36 ACT or 1330-1600 SAT (critical reading and mathematics scores only) and at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA will receive in-state tuition for four years. </p>

<p>National Merit and National Achievement Finalists
Students receive the following:</p>

<p>Value of tuition for four years [including OOS]
Four years of on-campus housing at regular room rate [included honors]
$1,000 per year University National Merit or National Achievement scholarship for four years
One-time allowance of $2,000 for use in summer research or international study
Laptop computer </p>

<p>The University’s application for admission and scholarships must be completed by December 1.</p>

<p>I’m assuming by just missing the Presidential Scholarship your ACT fell into this range, and as far as DSs experience has been the Engineering Scholarship is also automatic. Came about two weeks after his Presidential Scholarship letter. So essentially, all non-NMSF with ACTs over 30 in Engineering get the same thing after all University level and Eng. level awards are made.</p>

<p>Which then follows, if you are sure you’ll remain in Engineering, raising your ACT to the next level will not affect your total award.</p>
