Duke JHU in lax could become one, JHU beat them twice in the championship

Btw, I don't care about women's basketball at all and my school arguably has one of the best womens teams. However, I think other people do care a lot.

Aside from a few schools, people could care less about women's basketball. At UF, a huge sports school, people pay almost no attention to the sport. It may have sounded politically incorrect, but it's true.

Most definitely, Cambridge versus Oxford in the United Kingdom (both academics and athletics).

Army vs. Navy. It's war...

OSU-Umich

i had food thrown at me for wearing a UMich sweatshirt at my school in Ohio (on the night of last years big game)

FSU vs. UF
FSU vs. U Miami
Alabama vs. Auburn
UF vs. UGA
UF vs. UTenn

Michigan-Michigan State, hands down...

Yeah, OSU-Michigan is probably the best in football, but it is ONLY football; that’s it. Fans of either school could care less about OSU-UM basketball, or anything else. For those games, each is just another Big 10 rival, nothing more… But UM-MSU covers EVERYTHING from academics (especially academics-- you see that on the CC website), to golf, to W-softball, to track 'n field, to tiddlywinks ... well, you get the picture... There's no rivalry that matches this intensity.

Quincy, dont forget hockey, that's for sure.

^no question, loslobos. Can't forget the 70,000+ outdoor crowd at Spartan Stadium for the UM-MSU hockey game (I forgot what the promotional 'title' was)... biggest hockey crowd EVER (ending in an 0-0 tie). C'mon, what other 2 schools could generate that? THAT'S a rivalry.

That was the coolest game ive ever seen.

UNC-Duke is 1st- howd dook do in the tounry this year?
osu-mich #2
ku-mu #3- i live in kc and this is intense. I went to the ku-mu game in kansas and people really hate mizzou. BTW i second the comment about the lovely mizzou stadium naming story.
army-navy is intense as is amherst and williams. Also, alabama and auburn have a good rivalry. Those ivy league rivalries are blown out of proportion. Ive been to several harvard yale games at both stadiums and they are nothing compared to the other rivalries I named.

Likely a one-year thing, but this years Ohio State - Florida games have to take a top-spot in college sport's playoff rivalries.

Is this a joke?

gadad -- lmao, that article is awesome

loslobos, u dont think army navy and amherst williams are good rivalries?

There's Duke/UNC and there's everything else

patsandheels,
I was with you until you said Amherst-Williams. I went to their hockey game over Winter Carnival weekend not too long ago and it was about as compelling as an intramural final at a school like Penn State. It may be the most important rivalry to students at the two schools, but the environment, the scale and the intensity of the event is completely different (weaker) from the other rivalries you listed.

OK, to tell you the truth i dont no that much about the amherst williams rivalry but have been told that it is a good one. ESPN listed it as one of the top ten college football rivalries on a show I was watching but I cant find anything about that show on the internet so maybe im just crazy. Also, i dont know if these could have been factors but if ur expecting an atmoshere at an amherst williams game like that at unc duke i know you wont get it. There are far fewer alumni and students at these schools and thus you will not get the same kind of big time crowd and they dont have amazing arenas. But the hatred between the two schools, from what ive heard, is very intense. Also, i dont know if hockey is important at these schools or not. Im really not an expert on it though so u could very well be right.

I also want to mention texas oklahoma and usc notre dame as good rivalries.

lived in blacksburg virginia for many years...VaTech vs UVA...that's pretty crazy not as hardcore as WVU and VaTech...WVU fans burn couches

No one cares about Amherst/Williams except for students there--and even then...

Hockey? Football? At Amherst/Williams? LMAO.
