Assuming there were no other hooks such as federal monies at stake, your best bet is in the face of ignorance is to take your skills to the competition. I know it seems like a small increment, but over time it adds up.

I used to work with someone similar to this.We didn’t know it as Aspergers back then. We just knew him as “very weird and totally clueless”. I was his peer but everyone else under him came to me to complain about him. He’d say weird stuff to me too so it didn’t appear to be a power thing. He was a decent employee and didn’t seem mean in any way. Just strange. Our solution back then was to ignore him totally and keep trucking.
Write down and document the experiences however. Dates, times, what said. Your D may never need it but that is the first thing that will be asked for if she does file a formal complaint.
