Colleges with best/worst names

Who? What?

West Point sounds nice too.

Hey UCLA--

Chinese restaurant in Wash. DC: Big Wong

gets a rise out of everyone that hears the name...

I think Columbia, Berkeley, and Princeton sound really nice. Vanderbilt is cool too, it has a prestigious ring to it. Harvey Mudd is a funny sounding name, I think. LOL to tourguide, great categorization. Stanford's name is the bomb.

Two Words: ORAL ROBERTS

Georgetown's ok

Best: Princeton, Bryn Mawr (pronounced Brin Mar), Vassar, Duke, Arcadia, Northwestern, Rowan, Amherst, Renssalaer, Reed, Brenau

Worst: Walla Walla, Goucher, Chico State, Oral Roberts, Bob Jones, Christian Brothers, Morehead, Randolph Macon, Olin

As for the name you'd pick if you were starting your own college, how about Faber College? The movie Animal House would provide plenty of free advertising.

University College, London seems way too redundant to Yank Americans from the United States of America.

I heard the dental school at Oral Roberts is great (a lot of their students did their undergrad at Monmouth, Colgate, and Dartmouth), Kalamazoo is great in biology, Bard College is great in English, Wake Forest's botany dept. kicks butt, and Rhodes is hard to beat in civil engineering. Or at least that's the way the world SHOULD work. Except for those unfortunate co-eds at Morehead....

The previous post is extremely funny and intelligent. :)

Muraski, I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. Just be thankful that Bates College doesn't have a grad school, as I would have been compelled to point out that getting a master's there would be hard to beat.

Oh, sorry, I'm being really serious, I actually like your wordplay.

UCLAri and dudedad,

I was once interviewed by a local TV reporter with the name of Kevin Nicewanger. It was very difficult to keep a straight face; somehow I did because the interview was being taped. I believe I called him, "uh, Kevin" because I was afraid I'd get the giggles.

Nice DianeR! Looks like an entire "Wong" dynasty...

worst: University of Miami at Ohio, Oberlin (reminds me of the oblongs)
best: Pepperdine
