Agnes Scott College. Worse than that was what Emory and GA Tech students called it -- "Anxious word-for-female-anatomy-that-rhymes-with-Scott". Of course, Scotties called Emory guys 'Emerroids, so I guess it balances out.

Well, I'm stumped... seriously. I can think of a four-letter word that starts with C, but doesn't really rhyme with "Scott", so fill me in.

Um, like "wat". Only more t-laden.

The word does NOT rhyme with what you do on 4th and 8 from your own 30-yard line. Nor is it the same as the mascot of the Oregon State teams or MIT's teams...(same animal that completes this 1950-1960's TV show: "Leave it to ______"). Nor is it a synonym for a feline.

But it does rhyme with the way you measure the power going into your light bulbs, and what you do to kill a housefly. There was a movie 20 years ago in which Kathleen Turner played a prostitute who was performing as the customer's fantasy girl--a flight attendant. She said to him, "Do you want some Pan-Am coffee, or some TWA tea?"

giggle Thank you so much for that laugh. Very well done.

I was trying to be tactful in explaining, because it's a family board, or something. I was personally appalled the first time someone told me about the name. grin

Thanks, TrinSF. I'm glad you liked my deconstruction of the rhyme scheme. B.A. in English, Boston College. And they thought I wasn't paying attention... I kept telling my parents that majoring in English would pay off some day!

Yeah, when I have moments like that, I say, "...benefits of a liberal arts education...." Heh.
