I’m all for the Core. Especially since that’s kind of the way IB is structured. I enjoy Humanities very much, even though I want to go into engineering so I wouldn’t want to lose that.

I might be applying.

I really like the idea of the Core. Then again, I’m a very humanities-oriented person, and absolutely love learning about culture/civilization/politics/world events, so I guess it makes sense lol. I can definitely see why some of the more sciency types might dislike it though.

I’m most probably EDing to CC.
This will be an exciting year for all of us.

Totally agree with fledgling.

And having an actual college campus in Manhattan is something great!! :D

^ Campus is a bit small for my taste but I’d be idealistic in expecting a larger campus in the middle of Manhattan.

It’s huge. Trust me. Bigger than you could ever imagine.

Going by location, it’s at the home of the big apple.

If you love the city, you’ll love the Columbia experience.

Seconded. I personally was raised in a large city (Singapore), so I’ve grown very accustomed to urban life. Moving to even a somewhat suburban setting this year made me kind of depressed, which is why I’m glad I’m moving again to a large city next year (the Los Angeles/Orange County area in SoCal)! Based on this alone, I’m predicting that I’ll LOVE Columbia. :D

My previous statement was the conclusion I came to after visiting lol.

I am applying too for Columbia. Is one of my top choices. The major that I would like to study is Mechanical Enginnering!!!:)

Good luck to all of you:)

Also, do you know when the application form will be available??

Thank you:)

I’m definitely applying, but I’m still figuring out how what I’m going to do w/ EA and/or ED schools. The campus is beautiful.

@ helen: If I’m not mistaken, Columbia will use the Common App for our graduating class, which opens on July 1. Keep your eyes peeled! :)

^ You are correct.

Thank you again fledgling:)

I certainly am happy that Columbia chose to switch over to the Common App

i visited columbia monday and it was amazing
my gpa is a little low though - 3.7 is it too low?

^ Depends on your specific school. If you’re ranked in the top 5%, a 3.7 would probably be fine. If you’re outside the top 10%, then it’s most likely too low.

Columbia’s campus is a bit small for my taste.

I’ll be applying ED to the College. Prospective Russian Lit., Philosophy, or Art major. Hoping to row crew and play in the orchestra wherever I end up. I’m pretty nervous about the whole admissions process.

I’m also at about a 3.7, but in the top 5% of my class. My SAT was strong as well, so I hope that would make up for any ‘problem’ with the UW GPA.
