Columbia Class of 2021 ED Applicant Thread

@matt7890 Lol current Columbia freshman here. Surprisingly, I’ve actually talked to some people about this. The common trend is for them to either accept or reject both twins. It’s not absolute though. Just pretty much what I heard.

@merrrisatboost thanks, Columbia didn’t request for my first quarter grades or my original transcript in another country, I guess it’s a bad sign. :frowning:

Anyone have any anti-stressors for the next couple days? I just want to hear back already.

Anti-stressors or anti-depressors kek

They didn’t request it from me either :confused:

Does that mean we’re not considered? :frowning:
Any current Columbia students here got in without Columbia requesting a transcript from the first marking period?

I didn’t get a request for first quarter grades either but I asked my counselor to send them … :confused:

@nyqueen @collegebound34132 @jctony If they didn’t request grades it doesn’t mean they’re not interested necessarily. Maybe it’s because your grades have been consistently strong during high school and they don’t feel your senior grades would add much to your already strong academic background

Yeah, I don’t know how being contacted for first quarter grades would factor into admissions chances, but it seems strange because no one else I know had their GC get a request for them? This happened on about Monday for me btw.

Oh my school doesn’t even use first quarter grades, so we had nothing to send. Our first marking period is the end of January. Well, we do have progress grades, but none of my teachers take that seriously so there are zeroes in the gradebook for assignments they haven’t graded yet but are there anyways.

Can someone help, please? :slight_smile:
I by accidentally chose Electrical Eng. as my first major choice and BME as my second, but talked about BME only in my “Why engineering?” essay. Is this inconsistency going to hurt my chances?

just realized Columbia thread is the second shortest, aren’t there a lot applicants? lol

@columbiaplz
I think columbia knows that cuz schools state that when they send their school introduction thingy :slight_smile:

Hey there! I am a Computer Science applicant.
Anyone would like to join a group chat in Telegram Messenger (perhaps the best messenger so far)?

@ilyaasandr @columbiaplz lets do a discord sounds fun

@columbiaplz

Pretty sure I am not going to use Discord. I am very keen on using the best technology offered on the market. Forced all my friends to switch to Telegram as I rejected using Whatsapp (which is completely unprogressive).

Anyone here knows how good is University of Illinois at Chicago Computer Science program?

I received an offer of admission from there as an Early Action applicant. Should I accept it in case I get rejected by Columbia (which is likely to happen)?

@ilyaasandr You have until May 1 to enroll at UIC (i.e. plenty of time). Unless you are accepted through an Early Decision program, you don’t have to matriculate anywhere until May 1. If accepted to Columbia ED, you must enroll by January 15.

@icarus29 do you know anyone else applying ed ?

I asked a question last night, but nobody responded. Idk why, but i’d like a response please! This thread is a supportive community, I hope, which means that nobody should be denied great advice! Here’s the question:
