Yeah, I’m an international student applying for financial aid and there don’t seem to be any international students who’ve gotten likelies… :(

I’m international, applied for financial aid, and got a likely. But I haven’t heard word from any other schools. To be honest, I think the whole likely letter process is quite random as well. When I received my letter, they most definitely did not go through the whole applicant pool yet, so it’s definitely based on the order in which they read it. And furthermore, if you don’t have the edge of an athletic recruit, you’re competing within a very high-calibre pool of applicants. The application evaluation process is highly subjective, and what one perceives to be the greatest of the great may not be so for another.

True. I think the admissions officers take a variety of factors into consideration, different from institution to institution, that may play in favor of an applicant. However, these are seasoned readers who choose with a general historical standard in mind.

Just out of curiosity, what academic area of interest did those who received likely letters indicate on their Columbia Supplement?

^ I put Neuroscience and Behavior as my #1 and Biology as my #2.

I just got one! My intended major is Physics nibbles913.

My son received likely letter from Columbia today. He is ecstatic!!. First major reach school admission (likely I must say) He was waitlisted in Wash U today. Can not make anything from these college admissions. But will not complain.

JUST GOT A LIKELY EMAIL
applied to CC as a neuroscience major!!!

I chose neuroscience as my major too!

hell yeah neuroscience majors!

NNE I’m also from GA! Which part?

Anyone who got one for SEAS…do you plan on attending Preview Days both the 15th and the 16th? It would be cool to know some people before going there!!

Columbia’s sent out over 50 LL’s on CC alone. What’s going on? I thought these were supposed to be ‘rare’?

College Confidential is just really self-selecting.

I got one on friday. I had no clue that columbia sent them out. Pleasant surprise.

So if we get this likely letter, it means we’re basically guaranteed admission right? (As long as we maintain our grades and don’t commit any armed burglaries?)

^Yep. Consider yourself accepted.

What fraction of these letters went to atheletes?

Are any of the recipients on CC recruited atheletes?

My friend just got one. She is in arizona and goes to my school (that doesn’t have the ap moniker on it’s classes but is extremely rigorous) so I’m hopeful for when I apply next year. My number one fear was not having ap classes but I guess it doesn’t hurt that badly.

Sent from my GT-I9000 using CC App

I just got one. E wo ikon ti Olorun ti se fun mi. Mo ma dupe lowo e o olorun. Ose! Ose!

D got one today as well. Shocked to still be getting likely letters this late in the game. But, very happy nevertheless!
