Columbia University 2022 Waitlist

@grundeis i personally think very few don’t use Facebook… I know a lot of friends who created Facebook just to join their college group so hopefully they’re all part of it

Well we have to keep in mind that in general less and less teens are using Facebook, and on top of that all of the scandals and the questioning and stuff that happened to Facebook this year doesn’t raise its popularity imo…

My friend called them and they said nothing will be released until May 15th…

does anyone know how many people got waitlisted this year?

@collegedream101 my son doesn’t use facebook. he is on the wait list

I don’t use facebook either…I’m on the waitlist.

This is more important:

this year – 1630 members
last year – 1758 members

The difference is more than 100 members!!!

BUT like I said " we have to keep in mind that in general less and less teens are using Facebook, and on top of that all of the scandals and the questioning and stuff that happened to Facebook this year doesn’t raise its popularity imo…so this year it just might be that 100 less ppl use facebook than last year"

I’m really confused, Columbia’s website stated class of 2021 accepted 2,183 students, but ENROLLED only 1,456 students. This means around 300 parents joined the Facebook group with their kids, inflating it to 1,758 members.

@grundeis where did you see the freshman class size is around 2,000?

sorry what I saw was probably the Admitted Size also :)).

So yes, that number has to be inflated…but STILL, there should be the same inflation this year right?

The difference between this year and last year of 100 people would most likely be caused by not enough students right?

Here’s a more comprehensive breakdown of the undergraduate headcount. School of General Studies students are included in the total, but for this thread we should only consider CC and SEAS. So the average freshman class size is around 1,500.

@grundeis Yeah, I agree with you, this year’s FB participation is so much less than last year’s. It could be that people are turned off by the FB scandal or less admitted students are accepting offers. Maybe because of this…???

@Camchar88 that article is very concerning

@grundeis I don’t see a class of 2022 FB page for Columbia

@ambkeegan I can’t post the link here for some reason, go to FB and search Columbia Class of 2022.

@collegedream101 two of my classmates that got accepted and decided to decline are going to HYP. The 9 students that you mentioned, are they going to another Ivy? It’s hard to believe anyone would turn down Columbia!

@ambkeegan despite the news, the application rate increased 8% so maybe my guess is way off.

@Camchar88 I agree! and these students were accepted into HYP, uchicago, Stanford, or MIT and they decided to go there instead

Wait the acceptance rait thi year was 5.5%!! It rose?

The number of total applications went up 8% from last year. The acceptance rate is 5.5 %.

So “around” how many people does Columbia waitlist every year???

Is it somwhere around the same number as HYPSM (~800-1000) or is it much more?

So UPenn released their first wave today. Why is Columbia taking so longgggg :-SS :-S

@Lovebug339 how did you learn that upenn released their first wave?

I called the admissions office and the person that picked said applications are still being reviewed
