Columbia University Transfer Fall 2011

Where are you guys planning to stay?

Not sure I know what you mean by “stay” Swaggerer…?

hey, how much is the deposit?

Lol I mean which residence hall, apartment, etc. are you planning to reside in for the 2011-12 school year. I’m in the process of filling out my housing app and I’m trying to get an idea of where you guys are staying.

IIRC, the deposit is $500.

Oh, well I was hoping for Furnald or East Campus but honestly I don’t know what we’ll get. I was thinking of calling the housing office tomorrow and trying to see if they could help me get a better grasp of the system – I find college housing, both at my current (previous?) school and apparently Columbia as well, to be incredibly confusing.

Ahh it was so simple for my current school >< There were only 8 or so options - all of which contained pretty much one kind of room, so it was very straight forward haha.
I got that mysterious package today and it was pretty much a summary sheet of what I got last week. Not too exciting :stuck_out_tongue:
Furnald single would be nice…
I was accepted for BME at Hopkins today. I feel like I should reassess everything :|

Is there a transfer facebook group :stuck_out_tongue: ?

ldh, what “summary sheet” did you receive?

Don’t do it! Baltimore SUCKS, and JHU isn’t even an Ivy! Haha, just kidding. Congratulations! I was admitted to JHU for freshman year, but something about the school --maybe it was the campus, or location, etc…-- struck me as kind of cold and sterile. I too am feeling a bit hesitant at this point…I mean, I still feel like it’s kind of not even a question that I’ll end up going to Columbia, but I’m feeling really bad about passing up on Brown and Penn. I’m just worried that Brown and Penn would be a lot more fun, but I don’t know. Pre-transfer jitters. Gah.

@ylmc123 The ‘package’ I received was a single sheet of paper that said “in this packet” so I’m assuming it referred to the acceptance one we received earlier. It just listed how there’s the credit assessment, a course planning sheet… etc :P

@ananapp Did you visit JHU? Ahhh it really doesn’t help that I won’t be able to visit Penn or JHU before I decide. So their campus was bad ): ? (Not sure if I asked this before) Did you visit Penn ? Random people are consistently telling me that people at Columbia are anti-social or something like that… and the atmosphere at Penn is warmer/better. Haha I’m also definitely leaning towards Columbia so I dont know if I’m just making things hard for myself by thinking so much…

Oh I got the other letter from the director in the mail today !
I’m telling myself I will accept an offer by the end of tomorrow night !

Soo… who accepted their offer ? :)

i did !!!

me too! Gahhh just need to finalize it now.

Would anyone on this thread be willing to tell me what they think my chances are for next year? I listed my info here:
