My question wasn't really whether gayness is a choice or not but rather should I come out and such to people I have known since 7th grade.</p>
<p>sorry donkeyz, I tried to answer your post with my first post. I think that it really just depends on what you are most comfortable with. If your friends seem like the type to accept it than why not. Especially if you are a senior. There is nothing to be ashamed of.</p>

It depends on how comfortable you are with these people knowing that you are gay. You can never be sure of their reaction though.
In my group of friends, 2 have come out as gay in the last 3 years. We've fully supported them, it's just part of who they are.</p>

<p>My D is going into 9th grade, she has two guy friends who are gay. They haven't "come out" in the traditional sense, because they always were gay and didn't need to have to "come out"...they were lucky enough to be in a place that they could be who they were</p>
<p>If you are unsure about your friends reactions, then maybe they aren't the people you want to hang with anyway. If they are true friends, you probably have a lot in common, and it will be no big deal. They may already know anyway, or suspect. It must be hard to not be able to be honest because of fear of losing friends. Pick one person you really really trust, and if you want, share. </p>
<p>I am sure it will be okay. These are your friends, and if per chance you lose a couple of close minded ones, well, no real loss.</p>
