if I decide to take classes for summer school to start fulfilling my GE requirements, what should I take?

quick question for u: do the classes you take count towards your UCLA gpa?

Classes taken at community college count for credit, but not for the UC GPA

So would it not matter if i got a C or an A in a community college class becuase it doesnt count on the GPA?

I think not, unless you're applying for graduate school. Then you would have to send them your CC transcript. However, you really have to not try to get a C in a community college if you're a UCLA admit.

So, When if you have a C in high school and get an A in a local CC UCLA only counts the C to calculate your UC GPA? What if its a D? Also, is this for every college or just UC's?

I don't understand your question.

Well I'm a high school junior. Lets say I got a C last year in spanish, Can I take spanish at my local community college and if I get an A will that A count towards my UC gpa or will the C? Are all colleges like this?

O, well I was talking about taking community college classes after high school, after you have been accepted to UCLA. If you get an A in Spanish the A will count for the GPA required for acceptance (if it is a transferrable class, you get an extra point 5.0 instead of 4.0 like an AP class). The C you got last year will probably also count. I don't think you can "retake" a class. You should probably take the next spanish at your community college and get an A.

Dear ......,

Courses you take at community college can be transferred to UCLA if they are transferable courses. You do not have the option to choose whether or not the courses transfer. If the course is transferable it will be transferred and included in your UCLA GPA.

Uhhhh....Are you sure about this part?

Yeah that would be kind of sweet, but I've asked a few people and they said no. Can anyone verify?

well, that is what they sent me...so unless they're mistaken...

you can call them to double check

That is not true. The only courses that are included in your UCLA gpa are UCLA courses, or transferrable UC courses, NOT community college courses.

what the ****!

then why the hell did they tell me that?

On some of my local CC course descriptions it says, "UC or CS Transferable".
So you can take them and they will transfer.

^ i see the same thing in the comm college catalogue
