I did well in high school, 3.2 avg but I didn't apply anywhere for college in my senior year for some reason, so I got stuck going to Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland. It's a good community college, so I figure I'll do well this year and transfer to UMD. This first semester I only ended with a 3.0 GPA in my classes, but lets say I raise it to a 3.5 by the end of the year, does that qualify for UMD admission? I know kids who transfer easily after two years at community college but I'm trying to do it in just 1. Thoughts? Advice?

I think that UMD is REQUIRED by law to take any student from a community college that has a GPA of ( and I am not positive ) 2.5..it may be lower.
The problem is those students who have a low GPA at a community college and cant handle the course work there do not always make it at UMD because the classes are difficult for them.
However, you sound like you are doing fine..so keep doing well and aim for the best you can so your options for majors at UMD are easier to get into.

I heard that they are only required to accept people with an associates degree, though I may be wrong. I'll look into it. Thanks for the boost of confidence

Most state colleges will take a CC student with a 2.5 GPA and a certain number of credit hours ever semester. I don't know why more people don't explore this option.
