How tough is it to get into Computer Science at UIUC? I was just wondering because I got in and wanted to know if I got in because I deserved it or was it just that UIUC accepts a lot of ppl for Computer science.
Any ideas?? Drusba you wanna help me out man?

If you got in, it was because you deserved it. Computer Science, as are all the engineering programs, is very selective. Now that you’ve been admitted, both you with your grades, and the other applicant who ranked 1st out of his class of xxx, and with an ACT of 36 are both freshman, and need to study, learn and succeed in their classes. They don’t give out presents here. You were in a competition with other applicants, and you, on the basis of your accomplishments, were deemed good enough for them to offer you one of a very limited number of seats available in the College of Engineering that didn’t go to some other applicant. They want you to succeed, because their reputation depends on it. Now it’s up to you…again…just as it was up to you to do well in high school.

Corny, but true none the less, so don’t think you just squeaked by. You’re in.

dangg that was deeeep man. but yea i see waht you mean and thanks a bunch!!

also, by any chance do u know what teh acceptance rate is for comp sci? because some of my frends were going to apply RE and wanted to know if they have a good chance of getting in or not…

I doubt they have statistics yet on acceptance rates for given programs, but I know that demand varys year to year. I asked about Aerospace Engineering specifically, and they told me last year was very tough to get in, for example. I do know the chances of getting accepted if you don’t apply are zero though ;).
