duh...in my high school class of 2007 is like the best in the past 10 years or something
there are like 12 13 kids made into AIME, some 20 NMS, and a bunch of SAT>2200ers...i hate the ranking system of our school, because kids who take extra music stuff like choir and orchestra automatically get 100 in that class...iljets, where do you go to school? i am definitelly gonna apply for PENN next year

In NYC, when the kids born in 89 (class of 2011) applied to high school, only 1/3 got in on the first round of admissions b/c the birth rate peaked. with such intense competition for NYC public school, i'm nervous about college.

I'm positive the process will continue to get increasingly arduous and competitive before it improves. Just being realistic.

The class of '07 at my school is possibly the worst in my school's history, atleast when it comes to academics, but they make up for it by winning lots sports awards.

Yea, I'm in the class of '06 and must say that our class of '07 is pretty horrific. So if you're from NJ, I guess that's going to be less competition ;), though there are like one or two who are hopefully going to soar, though they're never going to beat us, yea class of '06 :)

bump............

Man, our class of '07 is the smartest class our school has seen in a while. We take the ISEE as an entrance exam, and our grade raised the average score from a 5/9 to a 7/9.

2005 was our genius class.
2006 is pretty meh
2007 is alright, but we sure have alot of active kids in terms of extra-curriculars.
2008 is spectacularly genius
2009 sucks donkey balls

Look my school up in the Newsweek list of "the Public Elite". Union County Magnet High School. :D Our average SATs were 1300+ for the Senior graduating class and average GPAs are As. The SATs were out of the 1600 scale.

Think about going to class with all the people from CC and that's pretty much how it is where I go to school. Luckily my school has abandoned class rank and reports everyone who has a B average or above as being in the top 10% of their class. :)

Our class was always termed the "over-achievers", until this year when all of a sudden it all went downhill. I guess we kind of got sick of the ridiculous workload.

bragging??

I love how people are looking at their own schools, and then concluding a general trend about quality of the national student body. Are you people serious?

No, we are not serious, koolcrud. We're not concluding anything - we're just comparing. Chill out.

Bragging? Maybe a little bit, but hey, I'm proud of my school.

My school keeps getting better and better, but of course I'm not judging the national picture based on this statistic. I'd say it might be a bit harder, but not that much different from '10 or so I've heard.

2005-Genius
2006-OK...mediocre
2007-yet more dumb
2008-more dumb
2009-even more dumb...

UGH!!!!

I'm still doing ED to NYU Stern and applying to UMich very early....then IF I get rejected (if you're saying WHEN you get rejected, DON'T apply there) I'll apply someplace else.

My class is pretty smart. Well, the smart ones are super geniuses, the mediocre ones either don't try or are just... mediocre, and the rest aren't bright or don't care at all. Overall, I think we're alright. The smartness of the top kids sort of make up for the dumb ones although they are outnumbered by a few hundred.

My 2007 class is alright. Not the smartest class, not the dumbest.

Our Top 10 our in fierce competition with each other GPA wise, and then the rest in the Top 10% are just naturally bright and don't spend hours studying. I'm in the Top 10%, but not the Top 10.

Oh well, I don't have any regrests. I'd rather be doing other things than studying for 5 hours a day. And I'm still doing well :)

'05 = allright, pretty decent class with a few stellar students
'06 = amazingly bright class... highest ap/sat averages ever
'07 = also very very bright class, but maybe not moreso then '06ers. good handful of students who are just amazing in every way possible (ugh)
'08 = an okay class... probably about a very small handful (5-7) who are amazingly stellar, top 10% are pretty good

lol. whoooo '07~!

Hey, i graduate in 2009 (class of 2013). I guess that's good news for me...i hope...

^_^

well. they dont have to worry about rejecting me cuz im not even applying to those...i decided a while back to take the road less travelled and discover lesser known colleges where i can get the same education for my particular major, without all the stress.
