Confused about date for scholarship applications...

The University of Rochester website lists a deadline of December 1 for scholarship applications (as opposed to the regular RD deadline of January 15). Does this apply to need based aid, merit aid, or both? (Son is only interested in merit money.) See http://enrollment.rochester.edu/admissions/apply/deadlines.shtm#freshman_fall

I couldn't seem to find any clarification in the rest of the website.

I'll be calling the adcoms on Monday for something else and will ask them this as well, but just wondered if anyone else was familiar with this deadline. Thanks.

I was wondering the same thing -- will you post when you find out the answer?

I called the school today. They told me the deadline is December 1 if you want merit money of any type. If you only want/need regular need-based financial aid, the deadline for the application isn't till later.

Whoops! Son is now working on short essays, and I arranged to have the other materials forwarded to the University..... I am glad I checked. I didn't realize the deadline for merit money was different.
