Are the classes listed under HU/FA/L on this page the only classes that satisfy that core requirement or can my DD take a beginner piano course at a community college over the summer? As long as she gets the course equivalency approved by UA, can any MUS class satisfy the core requirement? I think the answer is no but I thought I would ask.

oops sorry forgot the link

The course would need to transfer as something which UA considers to satisfy that core requirement. If the course has no UA equivalent, it will likely transfer as a 198 course, which is a designation given to lower division courses not offered by UA but which will count towards a degree (197 courses do not count towards a degree). 198 courses may or may not satisfy specific core curriculum requirements depending on the department and the requirement.

thanks for the info!

Even other music classes taken at UA do NOT satisfy the Fine Arts requirement. Only MUS121 and MUS250 satisfy the requirement, so I seriously doubt that a piano class taken elsewhere would work.

If you cant use a similar class taken at UA to fulfill the requirement, why would the registrar let you transfer that type of class to fulfill the requirement??
