Cornell AEM Vs. Washington University Olin School?

Did anyone get accepted to both? Why did you choose one over the other? All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Olin is a great school too, but AEM is better

follow the money and or go based on fit (i.e. u like wash u better)

OK. Thanks.

Any more input?

Cornell has a better presence on Wall Street and in the north east. I would imagine WashU would be better for the mid west. I’d agree though, to go whereever is cheaper and whereever you want to be more in terms of social and non academic factors.

IMHO Ithaca>>>>>>>>>>>>>>St. louis

I am from the chicago suburbs and I would kill to leave here. The mid west in general is not much fun. But do yourself a favor and find out for yourself where you would rather live for the next 4 years.

ithaca has better landscape/air quality

but socially (outside of cornell) it’s a tree hugging liberal hippy nutfest (see rants and raves ithaca)

you are way too obsessed with rants and raves ithaca, ResurgamBell.

You realize that only the extremes of all opinions post things there, right? It takes a certain natural craziness or extremely angry opinion to take the time of day to rant about it on craigslist.

st. louis to me seems like a really warm and open place with some good bbq…

and yes i’m obsessed…but there are underlying issues which somewhat touch cornell…

i.e. no fair wage for cornell workers (anyone have updates on this?)
seriously inflated prices in ithaca
etc (see rants/raves of ithaca)

i’m just saying that it was unfair for the guy from the chicago suburbs to say that st. louis is THAT MUCH WORSE than ithaca.

i can bet that st.louis doesnt have the social impact that cornell does on this town. (not that cornell doesnt do SOME good).

[Ithaca is…](http://ithaca.craigslist.org/rnr/1244905117.html)

st. louis has a lot more crime, although I am pretty sure WashU is in a good area. AEM is much better recruited for high end finance jobs than washu though. Business is not really what washu is known for, its more of a premed school.

Crime was the first thing I noticed here in St. Louis, evidenced by the fact multiple security guards are posted at the entrance of every grocery store and the fact you must check any plastic bags you carry into a store.

Anyone else? I’m looking more for comparisons between the two schools because I like St. Louis much better because of the size and more things to do, however I might reconsider if AEM is so much better than Olin.

yeah if you want a cool city close by (syracuse is a joke) then definitely go with washU

ithaca is tiny and while there are many events and such…if you like the st.louis vibe better…then go ahead :)

kind of off topic but is fit really important for AEM like it is for cornell in general or is AEM more about the numbers game?

i would say fit

Well I have really been considering accounting. Which one would be better for accounting connections?

Cornell is definitely better for any connections/recruitment. And I’m not biased just because I’m going to Cornell. I live in St. Louis.

washU might be good for regional networking but Cornell for NYC and world firms

^ ia. i feel like cornell is more known nationally and internationally (on the big picture scale) than wash u.
