On Cornell's financial aid website it says, "Regular Decision applicants: Regular Decision financial aid applications for the 2008-2009 academic year are due January 4, 2008."

However, College Board says that the deadline is 2/11, which certainly sounds more reasonable.

Does anyone have any information on this topic?

The Jan 4 deadline is for Cornell's own financial aid form to be submitted with a copy of your 2006 tax return. Perhaps they do not need the CSS Profile as early, but they do require their own form by that date.

No, the Jan 4th deadline and tax return submission is for all applicants that seek financial aid. You apply for financial aid at the same time as your admission application.

Part of Cornell's application includes a Cornell-specific form for applicants applying for financial aid. This form with 2006 tax documents is due 1/4/08 for RD applicants. The FAFSA & CSS due dates are 2/15/07 (off the top of my head).

If you haven't already submitted Cornell's financial aid form, you might be in trouble, seeing as how tomorrow is the 7th.

Hate to be harsh, but you really need to be on top of these things.

This is only if you are accepted right?
I applied for Cornell but I have not yet applied for fin aid here as I'm not "in" Cornell>>

NO NO NO!!! Do not wait until you are accepted to apply for financial aid. Check the websites of the colleges and see what their deadlines are for all the forms and information they need. Then do NOT miss the deadlines.

Just found out about this one, too. Was going through DS's list to update this info from my Excel file from the fall and to my horror, saw the date is 1/4. Will be FedExing tomorrow. Noone else on his list wanted anything before 2/1. Grrr... Can't be the only one who got blindsided, I figure...

Nope...you're not the only one :(
Man, I am so stupid!

I emailed Cornell's representative-person in my region, but I hope it won't be a big deal... I mean, by the time everyone's forms arrive and they sort/order them, it shouldn't make a big difference what the postmark date is, right? Right?

Cornell's Financial Aid form for along with your and your parent's W-2 forms and income tax returns should have been postmarked Jan 4th.
The CSS Profile is due Feb 15 (not sure), and 2007 income tax returns I think March 1 (not sure)

however, if you write a cover letter explaining the reason, according to cornell's website, they will accept the late application.

Email or call financial aid to see if they will still accept it. Don't give up before asking, at least! My guess is they probably will accept it late if you contact them immediately.

DANGIT! Cornell is my first choice, and I missed this deadline. I won't be able to go without financial aid... I've already submitted my FAFSA and CSS Profile to them, but didn't notice their supplemental financial aid form.

What can I do...?

I'm going to try calling the financial aid office tomorrow...

Its Not Over
Fax Them Or Email Them
I Emailed Them And They Will Still Accept Them
If You Do One Of The Two Mentioned Then Have A Cover Letter
Its Not Over!!!
