I am applying as a freshmen for the 2009-10 year. I am currently a senior in high school. Basically I have checked with other colleges and they dont need my CSS and FAFSA stuff until February-March etc. But CORNELL emailed me and said it all needs to be done by JAN 1!!!!

Is this true? I don't knwo if i can do all of that in 3 days. Please someone tell me if that date is that solid or what the deal is. I really need the AID because my parents are divorced and they dont have much money for college. Please help :)

Regular Decision

It is the priority deadline but you can still apply if you miss it. It is always best to check the financial page of your school for all requirements as every school will vary.

Google is your friend - It took me less than 30 seconds to find the information and I know nothing about Cornell.

great thanks :) i believe cornell is one of few schools that has such an early due date. my other schools only need it by feb....why is it so early, i dont get it??

Why so early? Because THAT is what Cornell decided. We had a similar deadline for DD. We submitted the FAFSA ON January 1 using estimates (we had done the Profile the previous November also a priority filing). We submitted the FAFSA using the "will file" status and using our very best estimates based on our end of the year pay stubs and bank statements. Then we got our taxes done ASAP after Feb 1 and amended the FAFSA to reflect the numbers from our tax returns. You can do this too.

Bcos them with the money make the rules! :)

A couple of Cornell's colleges announce earlier than March 31 so they need to start early with the thousands of apps. Also, Cornell is more students on finaid (as a %) than the other Ivies, so they process more apps.

btw: fafsa is not due now, just Profile (with estimates) + cornell finaid app + copy of 2007 tax returns.
