Yeah so the “chilling” and “waiting” didn’t work out oops. I called CALS and was able to talk to someone (who was very helpful). They said that they have my HS transcript (which has been missing) and that they will update it on my portal in the next week- no need to resend fs. They also said that decisions (atleast for CALS) will start next week and be once a week. However, if you got the “sent for review” note later, you are likely to get your decision in a later wave. Since mine won’t be sent for review until next week, she told me I might have to wait into May for my decision.
@rubberducky123 my app has been in review for about one week, and I sent it on the deadline. I’m so scared because I still am unable to get any sign on my Transvaal :’( if you don’t have a Transeval and your app was forwarded one or more weeks ago, does that mean you’re rejected?
@rubberduck123 I submitted mine on 3/15. Everything was checked off on maybe April 6 (?) and then sent for review maybe two days later. I’m also applying to CAS so I don’t know if that has anything to do with it
@lexluther96 I applied to CAS and everything on my checklist was checked off on April 6 too!! But it’s so weird that my app still hasn’t been sent for review
@dchn It’ll update and have your name and major listed. Also, the box at the bottom which says something like “our records do not show you as an accepted student at CALs” should disappear. Hope this helps!
@Mastodon97 Nope! I totally wish it did, but unfortunately, the transfer evaluation page only works for CALS applicants! For us, the primary way of receiving early notification is through a call from Ian Schachner! On the bright side, we tend to hear back in mid-April and early May from what I have seen in past threads.
If you need to know your results sooner because of an imminent deposit deadline, I have heard of applicants being told their admissions results early by the admissions staff. (Note: these individuals, specifically, are only told because a decision had been made on their file before they called) I know that sometimes you can request an expedited decision as well.
@doctork That’s not necessarily the case! It could be that they’re taking a while to discuss your file. It could be that they are waiting to update the transfer evaluation page. It could even be that the admissions committee has not gotten to your file yet! (And that’s pretty likely seeing as Cornell receives a large number of transfer applications) Honestly, no one can really predict your admissions results (not even Theresa Caputo :’)) and you’ll have to wait it out. I know it’s hard not to be antsy, but I guess we’ll just have to exercise patience! You’re not alone! Most of us on this thread are in similar positions. I’m rooting for you!
@doctork I submitted my application before 3/15, got everything checked off around late march. And was sent for review on the fourth. That means mine has been in review for more than a week. I’m guessing that since they said that they only update their site once a week, our decisions should be out some time next week or before the end of april cuz ours were already sent for review. I’m actually really nervous, too! Let’s wait a little more and hope for the best!!! Good luck to you!!
I checked the transvaal link yesterday and it said “our records show you have not been accepted” and today my major appears and it says welcome. Is it a 100% certain that I was accepted?
@ttp1997 congrats! im sure you’re accepted! may you tell us when your materials were checked off, sent for review, and how long till you were accepted? thank you so much!!! :))
ILR hopefuls: My application was sent for review 2 days ago. Do you think it’s too late in the game for me to contact Ian to receive a course credit evaluation? I also want to ask him if any faculty are currently conducting any research in the field of development that I’m particularly interested in (my application spoke about this research quite extensively). I’m not so much trying to have the conversation as a backdoor into being admitted, so much as I am curious but don’t want to send the email asking about programs and credit evaluations if he and his office are swamped with more important business like missing application materials, etc.
@Mickeytransfer I don’t know if I’d bother him about that kind of stuff before you get your decision. I think it’d be better to wait first. They are all probably super busy rn in the ILR admissions office.
@ILRie18 on the ILR transfer guidelines link (https://www.ilr.cornell.edu/sites/ilr.cornell.edu/files/Guidelines%20for%20Transfer%20Applicants%2015.pdf) it says that Ian will do a preliminary credit evaluation for you, I’m assuming before acceptances are sent out. “If you wish to have your courses evaluated for transfer credit, please email a list of the titles, course descriptions, and grades for the courses you’ve completed to our Associate Director, Ian Schachner…Ian will evaluate your credits and help you select additional courses that you can take to ensure that your application is as strong as possible.”
