Cornell VS Dartmouth

I posted this somewhere else also, but I was wonderning what Cornell ppl had to say

Which is better, Cornell or Dartmouth and why.

Other than the general stuff about both schools, I think it would be helpful if you included what type of major you're leaning towards. Engineering? Hard sciences? Humanities? Business? Etc.

how about business?

They are both great schools and you can succeed in business or anything else graduating from either one. What type of college environment are you looking for?

Um ya major really matters...what are you looking for? + wat environment? Both are great schools so if sum1 asks u can't just say one or the other...the major and what you are looking for are some of the deciders.

Well... you had more to contribute on the Dartmouth thread, so I have a feeling you are partial to Dartmouth... but here's the thread that quotes the student who transferred from Dartmouth to Cornell, for what it's worth.

I'm thinking of majoring in some type of science. which has better Science department Cornell or Dartmouth?? as in medical school or chemistry stuff.

I also want to go to a Urban city...like say NYC or Los Angeles type of place. It doesn't have to be Cornell or Dartmouth....I was only thinking of those two since they are ivy league. I heard that Dartmouth or Cornell has its own ski hill? or something? I'm interested in skiing and tennis.

which one is higher in terms of college rankings of USA?

if you want to work in NYC, cornell is a good place to be because cornell is popular in New York.

we don't own a ski slope but there's a ski resort 20 minutes away. having a ski resort close to you makes a HUGE difference..esp if you're into snowboarding/skiing. one reason why i love cornell is because there's a lot of snow here and its close to a ski resort. allows you to take advantage of winter sports

Both schools are very highly rated. Don't choose between two excellent schools based on a ranking.

thanks!! helps a lot. I'm really into skiing, and if there is a ski resort really close to Cornell, thats a plus!

what about their medical schools?

in terms of rankings weill is substantially higher than dartmouth medical school

Dartmouth is in a rural place isn't it? I think it's the most rural ivy league...definitely not urban. I'm pretty sure Cornell is better at sciences too (a TON of research happens at Cornell and it has some world-renowned sciences). You can take skiing as a gym class too I'm pretty sure!

.

Yep. You can take skiing or snowboarding as a PE class (required), even if you aren't a beginner.

"what about their medical schools?"

Irrelevant.

if you look at Time magazine's rankings for the world, Cornell is 15th while Dartmouth is like 50 60 ish. =] Go Red!!

yeah, cornell = definitely more worldly known

There are soooo many alumni too...you automatically begin to have connections if you go to Cornell.

I've never visited Cornell, but Dartmouth was beautiful...

Yes Cornell has many alumni, but there are more at State U, so does that mean the latter has a better alumni network? It's the quality of the connections that count.
