Jan 2nd is relatively early to be sending CSS and tax forms. What other top-ish schools have such an early deadline?

I'm pointing this out because of how elusive this abnormally early deadline is. It's not hard to miss. (note, Jan 2nd is for 2008 tax forms and CSS. 2009 tax forms must also be submitted but after one is admitted. this is also very unusual)

So what other schools have you seen that have abnormally early fin aid deadlines?

Yeah you’re right. I somehow manage a 34 on the ACT in Reading, but in real life I’m incredibly careless.

I only thought that it was Feb. 1st because I got an e-mail from a Cornell the other day, and since I’ve applied I assumed it was the one in Ithaca, but I just checked and it’s some school in Iowa that said it was due in Feb. I suppose I should’ve thought that was strange since I’ve already applied.

But yeah, I’m definitely in for a talking to, haha. I hope he doesn’t bring out the paddle.

You need to look at the financial aid deadlines for all the colleges you have applied to. I made up a spreadsheet for my daughter to keep track. Cornell was definately the earliest but there are several more that are due on February 1.

The nice thing about Cornell was that you can upload a copy of your 2008 taxes and send it in with your financial aid application.

January 2 - that’s CRAZY talk. The ONLY thing I did regarding my daughter’s applications is pay the fees…AND LOOK UP THE FINANCIAL AID REQUIREMENTS. I mean, that’s an awful lot for a kid to be responsible for! My D had a 35 in reading but …I wasn’t about to take her word for the financial part.

However, take the blame and suck it up and listen to your parent grumble then LEAVE THEM ALONE to work on it. I’m terrified already for January 1st…to just get STARTED on the FAFSA (I already have my accountant on alert!). Let alone the CSS Profile. My D’s first Profile is due 2/1…even THAT seems crazy. Many of us can’t just go back and look at last year’s filings…our years are VERY VERY different. I’m self employed and it would be me NO good to “guess”, or use 2008’s returns. So I also have to complete my business returns before my personal returns. Good luck to ya. I tiwll all be over soon. Just don’t wait until Thursday night after their first glass of champagne to tell them the deadline.
