Wow…my school is almost identical to cosmogony’s because none of the freshman or sophomore honors classes are weighted. Plus, they only let you take AP’s starting junior year(what a disadvantage :(), unless you happened to skip pre-algebra in 7th grade (using a star test score you received in 5th grade) to follow a special “track” that allows you to take pre-calc in sophomore year.

@vivng
there is honors history? and it is weighted? I want to transfer to your school now.

Campus: UCSC
Clusters: Astronomy/Oceanography, Logic and Cryptology, Marine Organisms
EC’s: A summer week-long marine biology internship, science olympiad, summer job experience as a camp counselor, lots of volunteering, and I started a community service club at my school
GPA UW: 4.0
GPA W: 4.4

Ummmm, I’m a sophomore, I don’t know if there was anything else.

Hopefully I get in and see some of you there!

@MomentumA7 - Haha yes there is an honors history! It’s Ancient Civilizations Honors and it’s actually super easy and kind of a dumb class; the only reason to take it is to take WHAP as a sophomore (the first AP class most people take at my school).

I sent in 3 transcripts: an unsealed but signed (on paper, not envelope) transcript from my old middle school, a sealed transcript from my current middle school, and a “official” University of Minnesota transcript with seals on the FRONT side of the envelope and printed on the sheet of paper INSIDE the envelope (it’s also postmarked, because it was mailed to me). Will my transcripts be marked incomplete?

@vivng6991: REALLY? EVERY SINGLE ONE of my classes (with the exception of band) for the past two years has been honors but they’ve only weighted two of them. Your first big chance to get an amazing weighted GPA is junior year, when the two-year IB program starts.
Really? I kind of thought my EC’s were average but thank you! I feel slightly more confident now haha

@afourally: IB involves all advanced courses so it is definitely more difficult than taking a select few AP classes, especially if you’re going for the IB diploma, which involves a lot of extra writing. However, they’re all weighted and it’s definitely a lot easier than taking all AP classes!

@DanieCalifornia: Good luck! Your EC’s look great! @yongqi90301545: No way! I’m not quite as familiar with the system for middle school students but I’m sure you’re fine! They should at least accept one of those transcripts haha If you still aren’t though, you could contact the office for your campus.

@cynnek: Well, of course you’re not the only person, but I haven’t heard of anyone on this forum that’s applying. (I actually didn’t even know UCI offered that cluster, since I was mainly focusing on the UCD program, but it sounds really fun!)

What grade are you in and to which other clusters did you apply?

@cynnek: Yeah, the reason I ask is that some people here go to schools where there aren’t many weighted classes available until junior year and others have tons of opportunities for weighted classes. I’m a sophomore and I take all honors classes but only two (Pre-Cal and Chemistry) are weighted. :(

I have most of the credits I need for high school right now so I can personally take multiple science classes as electives. I’m pretty sure it’s the same for most schools as an option as long as you’re still on track to graduating. Next year, I’m taking IB Physics SL and IB Biology HL 1.

Usually first week of may. But sometimes, depending on how many applied to your cluster, it would be as early as mid April. My friend got hers for earthquakes at ucsd mid April last year but the earthquake cluster is one of the least popular at ucsd.
