I am, my transcript is still not processed yet, hope they didn’t lose it or anything…

@nicolestarb: No, but I’m planning to apply to a couple of others next year if I get the chance.

@MomentumA7 and KenLOL95: It took them about four days for them to receive and process my application materials, but that was early in the month when there was likely a lot less mail to sort through. The offices are probably all swamped with transcripts and whatnot. I’m sure it will show up in a couple of days. If not, you can always contact the office. They’re always really good about mistakes.

@cosmogony:
I only applied to one other program(which I am beginning to have serious second thoughts about due to the chaotic application process) and am thinking about a program that is due at the end of this month. I don’t think will apply to the latter because a) I already asked my science and math teachers for 2 rec letters and 2) from the past threads I have been reading, they only accept a very limited number of students from each school (I know for sure that many top-performing people in my entire school have already applied.)

What programs are you referring to, if you don’t mind saying? (:

The chaotically disorganized one: cssi (carleton summer science institute)
it is in Minnesota, but I am in California…yep -_____-

The other program is ysp at ucd. The thing is, my teacher is currently writing recs for those top top top students(academic and ec-wise) who are applying to ysp, so I don’t even dare to ask at this point.

off topic question: ysp requires 2 writing samples. Are there essay questions like other programs?

@MomentumA7 - I think they just mean like something you wrote for a class (like an essay for English class or whatever) that’s been graded.

YSP seems really interesting; I might think of applying next year haha

@vivng6991:
I meant if they require essay responses about why you want to attend their program(like the personal statement in COSMOS?) in addition to the graded samples.

This is getting way off topic but I tried creating a thread for ysp this year, except that it died rather quickly ;_;

Oh, wow, Minnesota! That’s very far… I don’t think I could do anything like that. And YSP is too expensive for my liking and I can’t really apply for need-based financial aid. The best programs are in the MIT area though (no surprise).

Haha it doesn’t really matter if this board is getting off topic because it’s a waiting board anyways and you can only talk about COSMOS so much… I just want to keep this up because once the early birds get their application decisions back in mid April or so, people will want to know their stats (like GPA’s and EC’s) to appraise their own chances.

Why do some people get application decisions early? Like what is it based on? When you sent in your application? Or…

I thought I’d be dying, anxiously waiting to hear from them but course selections have been keeping me excited, haha. When do you guys select your classes for next year? :)

@viving depends on how many people applied to your cluster! My friend got hers mid April because she applied to a less popular course.

vivng6991:
My school is having pre-registration right now

@vivng6991: Technically, pre-IB students are supposed to have their schedules planned out for the rest of high school by the second semester of their freshman year (at my school at least) but registration for classes really starts next week.

My school doesn’t offer any IB classes but we have over 15 AP classes. Stocking my schedule like crazy XD

Wow! Since my school has IB, we have only one AP class (AP Calculus). The two other noteworthy high schools in our area have 13 and 8 AP classes.

My school doesn’t have IB either but we have quite a few APs. And some other really cool science classes like Forensic Science or Biomedical Science, hahaha.

Question for people on this thread:
Did you apply for any backup programs? Do you mind posting their names here? :)

Edit:
I have been reading some recent threads, and I realized that I should have applied for SSTP at Iowa. I can’t believe I spent half a month searching alternative programs and failed to come across it in time.
It is due today by the way

*in *. Im a freshman so this was my first time applying for something. So I didn’t know that transcripts had to be literally in an envelope and stamped by my school. When I asked my office to get an “official transcript for an application to a program” all they gave me was a piece of paper and a signature, and they didn’t say *. And just today the COSMOS application was updated and said my transcript was unofficial. I called them and they said they couldn’t accept my application. SO *IN MAD

Tell your school what happened. This was their error and not yours. Have them contact cosmos and explain what happened. Hope it goes well :)

same here dude, I sent an unofficial one at first then they rejected it, I sent another one that’s sealed on 2/26 or 28 and now it still says N…***

Awhhh seriously?! That really sucks )’: I don’t think that’s any fair.
