I am a junior in high school and in my third term(but got a higher grade in the first) I got a D in Spanish 3. I have meet most A-G requirements ( need another English and a few other things) even two years of Spanish. I want to apply at a few UC and CSU but I am afraid that I will not be accepted into them for this grade.I can’t take summer school to make this grade up so I am forced to retake in my senior year.Do I still have a chance or do I go into a community college? If I do better in my senior year will it help me?
Your D grade in junior year will affect your GPA as used by both UC and CSU, and it will be visible to UC admission readers.
Is D your final grade for Spanish 3? Or do you have another term to get it up to a C or higher? What is reported on your transcript?
If D is your final grade and you choose not to retake the class, then it will be reported on your UC/CSU application and used in the CSU/UC GPA calculator which would have a negative impact on your GPA along with only meeting the bare minimum for the Foreign language requirement. For the best possible chances at the CSU’s and UC’s, I would try to retake during the summer prior to Senior year so you have the replacement grade to report on your application. If this is not possible, then retake during Senior year and note the class as planned on your application but the D will still be included in your GPA.
You can probably re-take the semester this summer and wipe the D from your transcript altogether.
Maybe you could retake online
