I already looked at the stickied topic based on this issue, but I couldn't seem to find a definite answer. I'm going to be attending Cornell in the fall and I probably will get at least a 3 on Calc AB [aka enough to get credit]. Will medical schools accept this AP credit down the line?

BTW, for my major... I will end up taking 1 year of statistics [one sem basic and one sem advanced], does that contribute at all? Please help, thankyouu.

A 3 on AP calc AB probably won’t get you out of the entire calculus sequence, you’ll probably need to take at least one semester. I’m not sure of your school’s policy but if you can only manage a 3 on the exam you might want to consider dropping the credit and taking the course again. It will probably be an easy GPA booster.

Depends on where you go. Some schools do, some schools don’t.

However I’d say if you only get a 3 on AB, you should probably take Cal 1 again. I got a 5 on it and Cal 2 (Math 1120) here at Cornell is a challenge.

Heck if I had to do it over again, I’d have taken Cal 1 just for the easy A.

I don’t feel like looking up the AP credit requirements for Cornell, but I would place my money on it that they wouldn’t accept a 3, so you will have to retake that calculus either way. Don’t look at it too easy, it may be easy at Cornell as ZFanatic has been through it ask him, but I know many students who have gotten 5’s on their BC exam and decided to retake calculus at UVa for an easy GPA buffer, only to find out that for some peculiar reason UVa likes to teach calculus extremely difficult, and students end up fighting for grades.
