I'm about #20 on the waitlist at this point on the CS61A summer waitlist is there any hope of getting in?

Overall waitlist position doesn’t matter, what matters is the section waitlist. For the overall list, I think the general rule is that about 10% of the class size will get in?

Section waitlist is the one that matters. If you want to maximize your chances of getting into a class, pick a section with no (or the smallest) waitlist. Like, for 61A, if you waitlist yourself for 105 or 106, as soon as someone drops you’ve got a spot. If you’re waitlisted for section 101, there’s 6 people ahead of you, so it would be harder to get in.

Should really be okay either way though… especially if a GSI is teaching, they’ll try and get everyone into the class.
