has anyone ever done Johns Hopkins CTY summer camp? what did u score on the SAT to get in? i just want to get a feel of what kind of scorers are out there. thanks! :)

I went last summer, and I took a biology course. I scored 650V and 620M (eighth grade). A lot of people there were in the 1400s, but we were not competitive about scores. I had I great time, and I might return.

Paris, I got your email, but I accidentally deleted it. Sorry about that!

I did not study specific information, but I familiarized myself with the test. I bought "Up Your Score: The Underground Guide to the SAT", which contained some useful tips. I also did some sample problems in a packet that my school gave me.

Yup, I went to CTY for 5 years - 2 years at "baby CTY" and 3 years at normal CTY. I got 1130 in 7th grade and 1310 in 8th. Don't remember subscores. Feel free to ask me about CTY! I absolutely loved it and I think that it's definitely changed my life.

I loved CTY, it was the best thing I ever did during the summer. I scored a 1240 in 8th grade. But I do know this person who is now a senior who scored a 1490 on the SATs in 8th grade and went to CTY.

i got 700M 610V in 8th, but it's definitely not uncommon to see 1400+s. several of my friends had 1500+ and one was on a full scholarship for her 1550.

Well, the reason they do the talent search for 7th and 8th graders is to see how well they do without preparation. But I just did random SATs tests and read books.

I had like...12something combined in 8th grade. I went. I loved it. If there is any way you have the chance to do it, dont pass it up. The people that I met there are some of my best friends 4 yers later. One thing to note is that its good to be in a class you are interested in, but the people are what makes it fabulous. I learned more from the other kids there than I can ever fully comprehend, much less express.

You should take a couple sat practice tests. It help you to get a sense of what you are doing. And for that sort of thing, confidence is key. Know how long you have for each question. And dont stress too much ;).

if you're going to CTY to improve in something, (writing, math, etc.) you'll hate it. these courses were made for kids who have genuine interest.

I took the SATs in 7th grade and I got 720 math and 510 verbal (I skipped a whole critcal reading passage) I didn't prepare at all.. actually I was on standby for testing; the whole thing was kind of last minute.
CTY was a blast, I made numerous friends, and had an awesome time.
