at the beginning of fall quarter, you can apply to switch to the college of engineering. google-search "ucla hsseas transfer current students."

^
i did that, and it states that you can only apply for change after taking a UCLA course in math and physics/chem/bio. where does it say that you can apply at the beginning of fall quarter?

Is it humanly possible to get higher than a 3.8?

For a south campus major? Yes. (it took me 3 quarters to figure it out, but it's working out now)

I'm bioengineering, and for the most part time management and keeping yourself disciplined enough to study the required hours and put a good effort into your work.

Thanks Deuces. I heard that the first two years are the toughest (something about lower division classes). Is this true? I plan to major in Biology, btw.

Just out of curiosity, about how many people graduate with a 4.0? (Sorry if this is a stupid question)

Which type of housing is the best place to meet people?? And do you like any in specific??

Residence halls are the best for meeting people and socializing. They have more people on their floors, are more congested, force you to use communal bathrooms (where you meet people), etc.

Oh okay cool! Do you have any residential hall in specific that you like?

Sproul was just renovated this year, so everything is new in there.

Keep in mind that as a 1st year, you'll be randomly assigned to a residence hall.

I missed the auditions but is it still possible to apply as a music major? If yes, what would I need to do? Thanks.

Yes, my roommate is trying to switch into the music school. She auditioned during winter quarter.

Maybe this will help (Google is your friend!)

Yeah, I saw that but the problem is I didn't do the audition, etc. I guess I can try for my sophomore year. Thanks.

I'm majoring in International Development and I'm required to take a language... I've taken 4 years (including AP in my junior year of hs) of Spanish and I know it would be the logical language to take since I've learned most of it and since I'm already forgetting it, but I wanted to try something new. What languages do you guys recommend? Which languages are less/more demanding?

(Hope this wasn't already asked.)

How fast is the internet on campus? Can one of you currently there test it right now?

Speakeasy - Speed Test

95483 kbps is what i get doing the LA one...

yes, i am this bored.

"95483 kbps is what i get doing the LA one...

yes, i am this bored."

Thanks. Is that the same for both upload and download speeds?

47862 Down
7726 Up

My building has been on the slow side though for the past couple weeks. I got 8Mbps (not mbps) during the fall, and now I'm down to 3Mbps

93740 kbps down
1837 kbps up

;)

65839 Down
5445 Up

wow thats crazy fast (tho remember thats kBITS ;])... at home my cable service gave me 7000 / 512 and i thought that was decent

but i mean even tho the numbers are this high... you prob aren't gonna be DLing/ULing that fast... i think i remember downloading ~8000 from normal sites... i know places like nvidia.com have crazy fast servers and stuff (just tested and i was downlading like 48000 average) and i think when i sent stuff to people over aim it was usually ~1000 or less [all in kbps]
