Current Lehigh Freshman, Answering Questions

Yankeedude, yes, you can transfer between departments to end up in the business school.

KayM, I didn’t get to go to a lot of football games this year because I played rugby and our games are the same days/times pretty much. From what I saw the cheerleading squad was well accepted at the Lafayette game, with plenty of drunken support. Plus… guys like it for the ogle factor. Just sayin’.

Thanks for the help! I decided against it anyway though. New question! Which dorm is considered the best? I hear that we can’t choose our dorm, but I want to know anyway :)

That changes year to year and semester to semester. Smiley was the most fun dorm first semester, but now they’re all pledging.

I like Upper Cents the most - right near 'Bone, and a good compromise in walking distance from Offcampus and the Hill.

Copaman, do the Business school or engineering school have any requirement for the students if they want to transfer to those two schools from the College of Arts and Sciences, such as GPA’s, during spring semester of freshman year or just after the freshman year is over?

All the kids I know live in Dravo and love it! Lots of stairs, but a large 100% freshman dorm and a great way to meet other students. I think you will love whatever dorm you are in!

I’m definitely choosing DRAVO and since I’am an ED-I kid and paid my deposit very early, I’m pretty sure that I’ll be placed there. And thanx mumof2boyz, everytime you say something nice about DRAVO or Lehigh, my heart lightens up…
Also thanx to Copaman, he’s too given great insights in this thread.

I was using google maps today and tried to calculate the distance from Dravo to Taylor Gymnasium, and other buildings; most seemed to range from 4 minutes walk to 20 minutes and didnt seem very far!
I’m looking forward to meeting great people at DRAVO and at Lehigh!!!
:)

tinitian, you must be pumped:

I don’t where you guys got the idea that you choose your dorm. I never did and I did ED and put my deposit in right away. The deposit timing only determines the square footage you get. I was in Lower cents and that was a good time. Each dorm is fine so unless Lehigh changed their dorm policy recently its random…

I think Trinitian was assuming he would get Dravo as he was planning on selecting CHOICE housing, but other than choosing special housing, you will be randomly placed based on when you send in your deposit.

Can incoming Freshman request singles?

^^^^^yes, and many freshmen get them…something which is rare in colleges these days…

I believe you have to have a doctor note or something for the single but it has been a long time.

^^^nope, no doctor note needed. Dravo, for instance has singles in the CHOICE floors.

@japanoko: i couldnt stop myself asking this question, do you go to Lehigh? And are u from Japan or somewhat related to it?

hope thats not a personal question to u! :)

How do they request singles? Is there a form he has to fill out?

You will get a packet from housing after you send in your deposit that will explain all of that. I do recall my son checking off double, single or triple, but there are no guarantees you will get one. I know the kid across the hall from him has one, but requested a double. You may want to shoot an quick email to Housing to find out.

Thanks I will email them. We received an email confirming receipt of his deposit a week ago, but nothing from housing.

How do I pay my deposit

Check your letter of acceptance from the Dean of Acceptance, the one which contains your LIN and PIN. There’s a link to the website to pay your deposit online. Open that link and follow the mentioned steps. U can easily submit the deposit online then!!

Hi Copaman,

My son is interested in the IBE program. We attended the IBE info session, the Lehigh general info session and went on the campus tour (btw, our tour guide was an IBE freshman, and was incredibly pleasant and knowledgeable).
Lehigh’s campus is gorgeous and the IBE program seems quite impressive.

The one thing that was hard to determine based on our campus visit was whether Lehigh is indeed a “party college”, as multiple websites based on students reviews seem to suggest. I’d appreciate your candid input.

Thank you.
