<p>So many threads are about the best frats and sororities on campus. Even prefrosh already want to know where to go next year. With rush coming up, is anybody interested in making a big, comprehensive list of frats and sororities? Of course it's all subjective, but it'd be a decent starting point and if we get enough input it could turn out to be very useful for new freshmen and rushees.</p>

<p>I doubt anyone would invest the time to make a list describing the 40+ fraternities on campus in depth. And what's the point? It doesnt matter what anyone else thinks. The only thing that matters is which house you fit in best with. If you let other people influence your decision too much, you are going to get burned and end up somewhere you don't like. Why don't you just use your own experience so far to get an idea of what you like, and then use rush week the way its supposed to be utilized? Believe it or not, there is enough time in rush week to stick your head in at most of the places and get a feel for them. That said, I did give a humorous description of the sororities on another thread, which I believe received a 5-month bump and is now current again. </p>

<p>a ravin hurt: frats are groups of guys who live together. They do all kinds of things ranging from throwing parties, eating dinner, playing sports against other houses, community service, ravaging freshmen girls.....kidding, sort of ;) but yeah, what it boils down is a group of guys living/chilling together who ideally should get along well.</p>

i am not much of a party animal and i am definitely not into ''ravaging freshmen girls'' hehe..:D i prefer going to a movie/going on a 'date'/reading a nice mushy novel rather than partying :)</p>

<p>most people who go to cornell view themselves as serious academics and intellectuals. They, upon arrival view the greek system as the media portrays it, a bunch of drunken partiers.</p>
<p>The fact is that at cornell, you can do both! (that's true but that's not the point of the post) My point is that many or most greek members do not intend to join a fraternity when they arrive on campus. I was among that crowd, but I've realized that I can join a fraternity and still keep my academic priorities, and also that I can join a fraternity and not turn into a drunken ass... Cornell is a very special place, and the frats are special too...</p>
