I can confirm what BillyMc said. I too saw the FL score paper a couple weeks ago and there was a double asterisk by the number 210. The cumulative number of semifinalists up to that point was 862.

Yep, that’s the one. My counselor received it with my packet, so we looked through it.

I got a 220 in PA and am a semi-finalist.

WI semifinalist 209 today.

is it possible to get a full ride scholarship for out of state schools??? if your a “b” average student and deffinately not gonna be valed/ saluditorion. several teachers told me i would not be able to get the money to go to the school i want, because of these things.

It is possible. I assume you mean for National Merit?

If you tell us what school, we can help figure it out.

My D got a 217 in PA and is a semi-finalist.

Good for your child! If 209 is above the cutoff, our son joins yours!:)

We have so few NMSF’s that our school doesn’t know the rules - Does it specifically state not to notify the student? I don’t want to wait till the Sept 15th date to find out that they don’t have the packet.

In OH with a 215 score, and nothing.

Any ideas?

Could people keep responding about California? We have 2 posts where the GC said 218 qualifies, and 1 post where 218 didn’t make it. My son has a 218, we can’t contact our GC, and the suspense is killing us!

I also am wondering about the specific instructions the GCs get. Does anyone know what they are specifically told about the date(s) on which they can notify students? I thought someone said they can tell the students now but cannot post anything public until a certain date.

Non-glare tape is just tape that’s not shiny. You can buy it anywhere where tape is sold. Go to the store and choose the least shiny tape you can find. Before using it though, just confirm it with your guidance counselor just in case.

I’m still waiting to hear if my S made the cut in Oregon Does anybody know if the school gets notification if no one qualifies?
BTW, I’m a Letter Carrier and have a high school on my route. I saw a packet from National Merit in the mail from Saturday which I delivered today (not my son’s school which was closed today.)
I was surprised that the packet was sent by non-profit mail. Non-profit, like bulk business mail is the slowest mail, and may be further delayed by holiday mail volume. Non-profit mail also does not forward, and is thrown away if undeliverable. If your school has moved, or changed to or from a PO Box, the packet may never show up. I hope I’m wrong, but the large envelope was marked “To be opened by the Principal immediately.”

Anyone have an update for MA? 224 sounds a bit high.

BillyMc, I concur on the 210 cutoff for Florida, but the paper I’m looking at has a few different numbers.
For instance, 236 was the least common, with one student, and no scores have a 246 cumulative number. I’m a bit confused.

My daughter is an international student and we have heard that the cutoff is 223. This means that the highest cutoff for all states and private schools will be 223. She got 219 and is disappointed.

ri is 211. i got 211 in a private school in ri and made it, my friend got a 210 and didnt

Got a 226 in Nebraska.

Heard the cutoff (NE) was 207, but lowest I’ve confirmed was 215 in my school. However, I’ve talked to a bunch of 206s in our school that didn’t make it. Last years was 207, btw, so I’m pretty sure it’s 207.
