D in Calc senior year

Ended with a 65%. Prospective engineering major. What should I do now in terms of admission?

Also applied to three UCs (don’t really expect to get in) and two other CSUs.

This is specific for Cal Poly but it does apply to all the CSU’s and UC’s:

You must complete all coursework designated on your application, including those listed as “in progress” or “planned,” with a grade of “C” (or better) no later than the previous Spring Term for admission for the Fall Term. You must maintain the academic standard that allowed for your admission.

You must complete each term in your senior year with an overall 3.0 GPA in your College Prep Coursework.

You need to contact the schools in regards to your D grade and see what you can work out with each school. Better to give them a heads up now than when you send in your transcript later.

For the UC’s:
Freshmen: If you change schools, add or drop a course, or fail to earn a C or better in a course after you submit your application, you must notify the UC Application Center by email or postal mail. Your correspondence must include your name, UC Application ID number and your signature (if you mail a letter), and will be available to all the campuses to which you applied.

I agree with @Gumbymom and am afraid that might be the death knell for your Poly chances. There’s not much you can do now except hope for the best and move forward.

The bigger issue is…why did you get a D in HS calculus? It’s really the tip of the iceberg of the math you’ll need strong command of for nearly all of the engineering curriculum. Without a GREAT grasp of calculus, you’ll find the rest of engineering virtually impossible. If it’s senioritis, get back on the horse. If you were truly doing the best you could and that was the product, redo those sections on Kahn or MIT online to make sure you get it. Otherwise your term as an “engineer” will be short.

Good luck.

Does this mean I don’t get the 500 bonus pts? If so, then that indeed is the death knell.

Can others answer this…Could a high school student retake Calc., etc. at a community college concurrently with Spring high school classes, in order to get that credit?

I’m not sure about the bonus points. After all, a D is passing. The fact is though that CP typically rescinds for Ds and Fs Senior year. I’d call admissions on Monday and find out what your options are. I like @Redishwoods thought too. In the end, you’ll have to ask to know for sure.
