I had mine last weekend. It was by far my best interview yet (although my Sarah Lawrence interview is a close second) She was so laid back and easy to talk to, and we had a lot in common. It lasted a little over an hour, and while I don’t think interviews make or break an application, I’m sure mine only helped.
Might be a little early, but does anyone know what date decisions are coming out?
March 31st
All the Ivies announce on the 31st, I believe.
Has anyone from the SF Bay area gotten an interview? If so, where in the bay are you from?
@fruitfly2020 I’m from the Bay Area. I applied ED (was deferred) and got scheduled for an interview around a week after I submitted my application. There are more people applying RD so it might take longer but pretty much everyone I know who applied to Dartmouth from my area got scheduled for one at some point. I’m not going to say which part of the bay I’m from here but you’re welcome to message me if you’d like.
@fruitfly2020 I’m in the South Bay and I just had my interview last week. I wouldn’t worry too much if you haven’t gotten an email yet, but if you’re concerned you can always call/email admissions.
Phewf, finally did just get a request. I’m in the East Bay
You will start seeing interview emails from alums between around now and early February. They need to be completed by mid-Feb, so I’d be surprised if anything came your way after that.
Interviews for Dartmouth are also pretty low-weight. This means they will definitely use them in admissions, but more of a tie-breaker of sorts and to provide a better picture of you as a person, instead of just comparing application text to application text. The only way it would have any real sway would be your interview was awful (purposefully rude and maybe flipped a table or something) or utterly amazing (and the interviewer writes an essay about you).
So should you even bother? YES! Because it really can only help you in those tie-breaker situations, or it might shed light on the type of person you are. Maybe more importantly, it lets you ask questions and hear first-hand accounts of someone who lived the Dartmouth experience and isn’t being paid by Admissions to give canned answers. I’ve had many applicants come into the interview with one expectation of what Dartmouth is based on stories, and leave feeling totally excited and reassured after hearing what it’s like to live it for 4 years.
Enjoy the interviews!
Thanks for the information on the interview, good to know.
Is everyone’s FAFSA showing as received on the applicant status page? My daughter’s page shows the CSS Profile there, but not the FAFSA.
Hey, has any international student been contacted about an interview yet? Specifically from India?
Not yet…
Had my interview last night. She was really nice and the interview was laid back and more of a conversation. Just be prepared to discuss yourself and ask the interviewer questions about life at Dartmouth.
Are decisions definitely coming out March 31st or is that just the last possible day?
I am from India as well. Haven’t heard anything about the interviews. Where are you guys from?
@JerzJim Should be the 31st only.
@GoodGrief16 Same here, even though I submitted the FAFSA first. If it isn’t resolved in the next few days, I think I’m going to email them.
My FAFSA doesn’t show that it’s been received either, and I submitted it several weeks ago. Financial aid can take a long time to process. I wouldn’t worry about it.
Anyone has got an interview invite from India yet?
