Dartmouth Early Decision Class of 2021

I’m just happy Dartmouth is considering my application. I’m currently a junior in HS but since I’m not feeling challenged or accepted in the community I just took a couple college courses and decided to graduate early. So if I do get in I’ll probably be the youngest or one of the youngest in the class. (16 currently)

@BGMuleri That is pretty cool. I wonder what your education was like when you were younger.

I’m staying in town for Christmas and taking a break before spring classes start up. I may start studying for my NCLEX in August. Might fill out more apps if I don’t get into Dartmouth. I’m lower middle class with a single mom who pays rent in an area of Florida where rent is equivalent to NYC.

@Nereida417 I always wanted to go to a boarding school but when I talked to my mom about it she saw it as me trying to abandon her.I had a presentation and everything lol.

Well, I will take the SAT Subject tests in January, money is variable in my house hold, as my older siblings are currently in college. My sister goes to Dartmouth. Wonder if that helps. I will take US History, Chem, and Literature. Any advice? This is also going to be a part of my winter break.

Internships are great, but what about real jobs with pay? Do internships look that much better than jobs? Especially for those that don’t have the resources or connections to find internships

I share the same sentiment with most people in that I think (disregarding essays) that my extracurriculars were the best part of my app, because I just did what I loved and it came to define me.

Does the common app ask for quarter grades also? I do not see it on the dashboard.

@kaitefoxfire My parents weren’t too keen at first but I’ve always been independent and they understood that I needed a stable high school education (My family moves a lot so before high school I had attended six different schools). Over all I’ve loved my time here, but I’m super ready to finally finish high school!

@CheekyNandos Oh how lovely

@CheekyNandos Someone is either very paranoid or is sure they are getting accepted.

@GiddyHiddy I’m gonna go with the very paranoid option.

If we’re being open and honest, I’ve had a countdown since the Q and A.

I don’t have a countdown running, but it isn’t hard to estimate number of hours when you’re this close to the release date, so thats what I’ve been doing!

@educationisgood Those were my thoughts exactly! I have taken many advanced art courses even though I’m not going to pursue it in college so I thought it couldn’t hurt!

Did anyone watch the live Q&A. What did the dean roast about essays?

@GiddyHiddy She’s a recruited lacrosse player

Anyone know about how many applications they received this year?

@tokper7 he said that one application he read mentioned “cool” activities but the applicant failed to expand upon why they were significant. Meaning, the applicant did not mention the activities throughout his/her common app, possibly indicating superficial interest.

@laxer2215 , they will probably release the stats after decisions are released. Although there is not a specific answer as of right now, my guess would be around 2070 applicants. I used a linear regression line to calculate this number (shoutout to AP Statistics for teaching me something useful)
