Dating in college

Has anyone ever dated anyone in college? I am curious because I want to date someone in college, and I am wondering how common it is. I want to date someone who also finds education important.

Very common? Walk around a college campus and you’ll find many couples.

OP, is this question real? I think there have literally been millions of students who dated another student in college. Plenty of them got married too, and quite a few of them are here on CC.

I can say from personal experience and experience with my kids that intra college dating is preferable to inter college dating. Its true what they say about long distance relationships…very hard to maintain.

What are those Crosby Stills and Nash lyrics…If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with?

Are you in college? or are you out of college and wanting to date someone who is in college? Is it someone specific you are after or just college students in general?

One of my friends seemed to have found his “perfect match”. They seem to have a lot of things in common.

It can take some time before you find someone and/or it will naturally happen.

I’m in college, but I am not currently thinking of anyone specific. It is just really important to me to date someone in college for some reason. @nw2this

Yes, lots of dating and relationships, but don’t force it. It is common to casually invite people to the join you in the dining halls. A step up would be to go on a date to the movies or to some of the free events on campus.

I met my husband of 36 years at college, my daughter has met a nice boyfriend at college who she has been dating for almost two years (a first for both of them). In both cases relationships grew out of friendship. Relationships happen during college, often start in unexpected ways. Some last, some don’t. If you want to date try asking, or at least keep your eyes and mind open to the opportunity.

I think most college students date other college students or former/future college students. So it is not just common, it is the norm.

I met my husband in Oct of my Freshman year signing up for a self-paced Chemistry Exam. He was in my lab. My son is a Freshman and already has a girlfriend. He is pre-vet and she is pre-med. He is happy because she is just as focused on academics as he is. It happens a lot!

I met my husband during freshman orientation and we just had our 30th wedding anniversary.

Started dating Mr R sophomore year after my high school relationship went kaput.

Engaged after graduation and married right after getting my masters.
