Daughter's in a double in Ecology

Give me some things to tell her that will make her feel better. She's in the School of Engineering at the far end of campus to boot.

Thanks,

Ask Uncle Ezra. February 24, 2011.

Ask Uncle Ezra. Also March 3, 2011

no huge hills to or from north to engineering. that’s nice compared to doing the slope every day.
also I know people who’ve lived in eco house and think it has a great atmosphere.

Is she worried about the distance? Or the fact that it’s the eco house?

Great atmosphere
Very helpful group of people
Near to RPCC
Great study hall within Eco. or you could just go Africana library to study.
Busses take you to CoE; if you don’t feel like walking
Great outside visitors mostly environment, eco, wildlife experts
Own bath room

You can always apply for a room switch too, the housing office is in RPC. The sooner the better.

Honestly, the Ecology House (like any program house) isn’t for most people. If you enjoy traditional social outlets, then you’re likely going to be miserable.

I agree wholeheartedly with Caillebotte.

I’ve been to the Eco House a few times and the people there were very nature-loving, but also socially awkward. Obviously, everyone has their own unique preferences, but for the average regularly-social person, the Eco House probably isn’t the funnest environment.

I think she was mostly concerned about the distance but apparently, she can take a bus if neccesary.

I’m a little concerned about the social aspects, but I think she’ll find friends and adjust.

Thanks again for your comments.

Dad

Many classes required for engineering are held in buildings just across from the bridge. Depending on her schedule and engineering major, she may not even have to go to CoE Quad. Busses are every 10-15 min. from 7am onwards. Here is more info. on busses, [Home : TCAT Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit](http://www.tcatbus.com/)

It takes 5-7 min. to get to the quad stop from Eco house.
