How are you guys going to get the dean of your college to fill out the form that basically states that you the student find your current school not good enough?

I was thinking about just writing the dean an email explaining reasons for transfer and asking when I can drop the form by his office.

From my understanding, the dean's statement is somewhat of a formality. Most of the colleges I've looked at, the statements just ask to make sure that you are in good standing and eligible to return. I even think the secretaries of some offices handle it from what other students have said. In any case, I'm planning on just going to the dean's office with the forms and giving them to him, students transfer all the time, probably moreso if your school isnt particularly good.

the reason i'm asking is because on the form for the dean for penn the dean has to answer the question "what is your understanding of the student's reasons for transfer" or something, so i was curious if writing an email to the dean before dropping off the form would be more appropriate.

i am transferring from clemson university in south carolina btw.

I've thought about that too. It seems as if a place like the University of Kentucky (which is where I am going right now) would not want to lose someone who feels like he is eligible for admission to places like Columbia and Yale. UK, probably like a lot of other schools, is on this "Top 20 University" kick which pretty much means that if there is any possible way that they can gain cred then they won't let it go easily. I guess I'll just wait until the time comes for me to apply (probably next year) to know.
