We are still waiting… (3:50 Central Time). Didn’t want to book flights for Honors weekend until we have the news in hand.

Ours just came! 3:30 CST. Nice letter, nice Tulane portfolio. We are walking on air!
Paula

Did you have to sign for it, or will they leave it at the door?

They left it when it came a few yrs ago
Dont think you’d have to sign – the recipient should be in school anyway :)

So as I told many of you since I did not get DHS I am going to plan B. Plan B was going up to UCLA for interview today. Driving home and I take the last turn to my house and there in front of me is not only the UPS truck but also the FEDX truck. I had come to terms about not getting the DHS but I wont lie my heart skipped a beat…until both trucks stopped at my neighbors house to deliver packages. What can you do?

oh my 33dmjjm! Understand why your heart was in your throat! Good luck with your college apps. I am sure you’ll have lots of success!

So if my gibson hasn’t been updated and I have not received a letter, is it safe to say that by now its a no.

I would have to think the odds are slim.

brklynmom…dont you think both letters would have come at the same time for your twins?

Believe it or not we got the DHS packet delivered at 7pm ish this evening.

UPS home delivery runs til 7. Business gets higher priority during the day because they close.

Congrats to everybody that was offered one.
I’m a prospective junior interested in Tulane (and the DHS)
If it isn’t too much to ask, could some of the winners post their stats?
I’d like to see if I’m in the ballpark

viking - It is more than stats, but Tulane recommends 2250+ SAT, 33+ ACT, and top 5% of class as minimum stats. Naturally they expect that you have taken the most challenging classes possible at your school. Gives you the idea, anyway. As far as I know most, if not all the winners over the last few years have had stats like these, good EC’s, great recs, and gave some real thought to the project involved.

BTW, I hope you are not a prospective junior. LOL, sorry couldn’t resist. I know what you meant.

PS. OK, I just remembered you posted back in early January on another thread and you and I had a brief conversation. In reviewing your stats and the rest of your resume, I can tell you with no reservations that you are an excellent candidate for the DHS. Very competitive, you would have as good a chance as anyone.

FC, I have to say that you are seriously one of the most helpful people on this site.
Thanks a bunch.

Also, yeah haha sorry about that. Prospective student, current junior. It’s late.

Indeed! And thanks for the kind words. I enjoy it, and I love seeing how Tulane just keeps getting better and better classes. If I help in some tiny way, that’s great.

Just keep up your great work. Your resume really is fantastic. You will get into most of those schools you were talking about I think. Tulane won’t be the highest ranked school that accepts you, but I think you really would find it to be a great fit based on what you said in the other thread. Any plans to visit soon?

Unfortunately no. Lacrosse starts in about a week, and that’s my locks up my schedule untill the end of school. I have relatives in Lousiana, so I’ll probably visit sometime this summer, but I won’t have any opportunity to see what it’s like there on campus untill next year after football, sometime in November (most likely after I’ve applied, because I’ll probably be applying EA).

And while you’re probably right about Tulane not being the highest ranked school that accepts me (I wish I could be more humble haha), it may be the most attractive finacially. I can probably afford the top end schools that I’m applying to (Northwestern, Stanford, Penn), there’s something to be said about having an extra 100 to 120K in my pocket after graduation, due to the great merit aid at Tulane.

And it does appear to be a great fit, and NO is a very cool place. I’ve been to the city visiting family (lots of relatives in Lousiana). Plus both my grandparents are alumni, as is my cousin, so I can definitely see myself there.

Still wondering about the twins…

How many of our cc’ers got the DHS this year? Sounds like a lot! Congrats!

Just to clarify - I go to the financial aid tab, then under financial aid award information? Was the $25,000 scholarship (can’t remember what it’s called… Presidential?) supposed to appear there too, even if I didn’t get the DHS? Because right now it just says “2011-2012 Financial Aid Award Information - coming soon”. Or are the automatic merit scholarships not listed?

From what everyone else is saying, it should all be there. If you don’t see it by Monday, send an e-mail to the financial aid office.

I believe that my D’s Presidential scholarship was showing up earlier this week when we were checking for the DHS but now nothing at all shows up; not even the Presidential. Guess we’ll give it a few days and see if it “reappears”…
