Debut LSU

Has anyone heard of this? We had just decided to visit on July 24th and in the mail today my son got a postcard for this event on that day (also offered on July 13).

I registered him and they asked you to select 2 colleges for presentations. It also allowed you to select 1-on-1 meetings for admissions and financial aid.

Sounds great!

we are thinking of visiting lsu soon.

i looked on the website and didn’t find anything about debut lsu.

: (

Strange… link WAS http://www.lsu.edu/debut</a> but doesn’t appear to be operable today.

It’s July 13 & 24th. If you are interested PM for me the contact person’s email address.

I emailed the contact and I guess this is an ‘invitation-only’ event where invitations were issued for kids who sent their scores into LSU and were above some preset level. Guess that explains the disappearing website. Sorry for any inconvenience. It wasn’t clear from the postcard. She did say there would be many other general events especially closer to and during fall.

As we learned from my son’s A&M visit last week it’s kind of a bummer to go in the summer when everything is so deserted and SO hot! Fall might be a lot more enjoyable!

yeah, visiting in summer is hot and different, but i don’t think we would be able to go at all in the fall due to band etc.

Oh right, she’s the band girl. I wish she could see Tiger Band in action!

Go to youtube and search “LSU Tiger Band Pregame” you’ll get a bunch of hits, but the one that shows up 7th for me (58 seconds) is shot from behind some football fans as the band marches down the hill past the tiger habitat and into the stadium. Shows how much the band is loved. It’s one of my favorite college memories. That and the guy who announces 'Now Ladies & Gentlemen, entering the west side stands…the GOOOLDEN BAND FROM TIGERLAND". Also the normal pregame is pretty cool. There are videos of that also.

Sorry for rambling… I think you said she wasn’t even going to do band, but still nice to see the traditions. There’s nothing like Saturday nights in Death Valley :-).

One additional thought…when I was there the band starting summer practice a couple of weeks before school started. Maybe if she’s at all interested you could drop by and check it out.

i wish she would do band. at least give it a try.

: (

yeah, visiting while band is in action would be a good idea, but her band stuff starts aug. 3, so we need to get all our visiting finished before then.

i did email lsu and they sent me the info to come to debut lsu.

so, we may do that. or we may go this week. not sure yet.

: )

one thing she wants is a school with traditions. we live in a fast growing area with new schools and NO TRADITIONS, so traditions is one thing that is on her radar.

she is not real keen on LSU, but i am pushing the visit because it is a viable choice with scholarship opportunities and within a shortish drive (5 hours - some of her other options are 9 - 10 hours away.)
