After budget cuts at work. Ive realized i can only apply to 5 schools. 4 UCs and 1 CSU . I am a history major i have a 3.83 gpa. Only have 6 classes left. But i am taking math in spring. I am completeing all pre reqs. I have decided so far UCLA UCSd and UCR(because im not tagging to any schools due to math) i could do UCSc or UCD but i dont see myself there. I need to decide on one more UC.. UCB is a major reach and UCSB might deny me based on my math being completed in spring. I will also be applying to CSuLB. Im kind of nervous about not doing TAG. Should i use my last spot to TAg or apply to either UCSb or UCB?

Is there any way you could take math in the winter?

They really don’t like to see you taking math or English the spring before you attend. It will hurt your application, UC-wide. They can’t just assume that you’re going to pass the class.

GPA is great though, just keep it up.

I am going to try to enroll in math during winter. Howevrr its hard to get classes during winter my school is one of the only colleges in my district that offers winter session. Would winter help tho? Because i would have already submitting my application.

Come to think of it, maybe, maybe not. You might want to give them a call and ask if winter would be preferred.

In late January you have to report your fall grades. You can report your winter grades if they’ve come out by the deadline.

I emailed a UCLA rep who said winter or spring was fine. But i am thinking of asking UCSB

I know UCSB vehemently argues that if you don’t have math completed by Fall, then you will most likely be denied admission. That being said, I still got accepted even though I completed my math during Spring. I guess it just depends on your major.

Why do you think Berkeley is a major reach? The average admitted transfer GPA to Berkeley was a 3.77 in 2012, which you’re above. And you said you’ll complete all of your prereqs. Unless you vehemently don’t want to go to Berkeley or you have a written manifestation of Tourette’s syndrome and will write a terrible PS, I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t apply to Berkeley.

My advice would be to apply to where you’d like to attend, don’t overthink it. Even if there are certain preferences for certain UC’s they tend to make exceptions for those with high GPA’s. Lastly, don’t sell yourself short. Your GPA is higher than the average GPA admitted to every UC campus. You’re definitely more than qualified to apply to any UC campus and, unless there’s more you haven’t told us, have a realistic chance at being admitted to all of them.

Also, I wouldn’t worry about not having TAGed, you will definitely be admitted somewhere (likely everywhere) as long as there are no glaring issues with your application.
